You need to start with little sticks and work yourself op to the log. Sticks as thick as chopsticks, then the thickness of your fingers, then the size of your wrists, then the thickness of your ankles. Finally logs as big as your thighs will light just about any other log

With these smaller engines if they stop running the main reason is usually the carb but I wouldn’t mess with it until you know what ur fixing the over head valves are right under that cup and under those would be the piston the only reason you’d need to get to that is if the engine blew up or you needed to adjust the valves and you shouldn’t need too much

It's the valve cover. If your valve ever needs adjustment, thats where it is.
