2008 in the Eastern Sierra consisted of back-to-back storms which lined up far into the Pacific. If the mountain was open we would be first in line. If it was a busy weekend we would avoid the competition for fresh tracks and take to the backcountry by sled. Between skiing and snowmobiling, I began to tackle a vexing paradox that me and millions of other snow sports enthusiast are faced with: "The best days on the mountain are also the worst." Finally after three seasons of trial and error Justine and I had created something that we felt allowed us to enjoy "the best days on the mountain," with all the cold, wind, snow, and rain mother nature could dish out. In the winter of 2010-2011, we decided to form Matarik LLC, an independent developer of high performance snow sports products that utilize innovation, integration, and style to create a more lifted on the mountain experience.
