Ace Pro 2 is also out. Did the original Ace Pro have an underwater mode? The AP2 does and it's supposed to correct for warping in the edges of the video that you often get when filming underwater.

Yeah it’s out since a month. Don’t have it yet, but sounds promising. On Ace Pro there’s no specific underwater mode, but with AI color correction it was not really necessary.

Thanks for the video Martin. I just purchased sm cylinder rigging from Hollis, but it is completely disassembled. I just need to know how the cord is attached to the bolt snap (type of knot), how the cord/bolt snap is secured to the cam band and cylinder neck, length of cord or how far the bolt snap should extend to ensure it can be attached to the drop ring or d-ring. The set up I had during my training was perfect, but it was already configured on the two cylinders besides me having to adjust where the bottom cam band was on the cylinders. Thanks Ed

@MartinSlisans2 ай бұрын
Thank you for commenting. I filmed in normal setting mode 4k 30fps. Conclusion is that if there would be an option to do presets (guess it was GoPro who introduced QR codes for presets) for different diving conditions, it would be easier to get good quality footage. With the upgrade they did they can’t convince me to upgrade from action 4 to action 5 Pro. Action 4 has disadvantages but not that many to swap it for newer one.

@MartinSlisans I believe it's better to use D-Log-M for underwater videos and then perform color correction and grading to fully maximize your camera's potential.

This is a great review! You can edit gases under water, you need to hit the "mode" button to advance to the next step in the editing. You can disable gases under water (say you lost a gas and it's being included in your deco calculations) Editing the conservatism is useful if you want to bail out. It does change it, but the difference in NDL isn't going to show up until you are deeper... another reason a lot of settings are editable underwater are because, let's face it, a lot of people will use this as a backup computer and they will do their best to keep the settings in sync with their main computer. One thing that is super convenient for use as a dive shop rental computer - you can reset the tissues without resetting the logs. So if you have a class with some new students in the morning and then they are done diving, you can reset the tissues and have an afternoon student use the same computer and have it be accurate for them.

I also own deep6 eddie. it's shorter, stiffer, lighter, it beats my Mares quattro with shitty bungees straps. if I have to say something I don't like about the deep6, it is the foot poket, I have to wear hard sole boots with them, unlike the Quattro, any boots would be good. on the other hand, Deep6 with soft boots just doesn't feel good. S-tek fins, they are the most ugly fins from Scubapro. If they made the jetfin detachable and light weight, it would be a bad ass.

Do you think the action 5 is a good option for evening and night walking videos? And mall walking? And does the action 5 have jittery effect in low light with artificial lights?

It would not be right to comment on Action 5 pro because I don’t have it and can’t say the performance difference with Ace Pro. Ace Pro is doing very well in low light already and I guess Ace Pro 2 will do even better, just need to wait a bit to get know it. For deep Tec dives agree, but recreational divers buying standard lengthlines and they are 15 or 30 m on a simple spool. For longer line ther’s a reel needed then. Can’t imagine a regular diver diving with a reel:)

Just a quick question.. seen you had a insta360 selfie pole, but why in the sea instead you using the original selfie pole, seems like you using cheap one? Is it because of taking care the original accescories or some of us just had a rough accescories to just not worry about the quality and care of? As for me, i even don’t bring my original accescories into sea water, sad to be rusty.. 😋
@MartinSlisans3 ай бұрын
Have to check that video again, but I still using the one from Insta360. Even almost a year old and after some 500 dives it’s a bit scratched but works perfectly. There’s nothing really to rust, it’s made from plastic. Sometimes hard to extend cause getting dry, but with a bit of silicone grease it’s good to go again. And I like that no need to twist to lock the length.

@MartinSlisans3 ай бұрын
Hi. I found that if first I point camera to some object close to it, then it’s easier to balance colors. Same as it’s done to get white balance for underwater cameras. Otherwise agree, quite bluish, especially deeper than 20 meters.

@@MartinSlisans That's an interesting way around it. Hopefully it would stick to the colour after that and not do all these colour changes mid recording.
@MiyagisRant3 ай бұрын
I dive with both and love them both, I prefer Ace Pro's color science tbh. I've done some side by sides and I also find Ace Pro has a slight edge in sharpness over DJI but nothing post can't fix. The one thing I find with DJI is when the light goes really low ie. in caves or corridors or penetrating wrecks, the DJI starts to show it's weakness with intermittent blurs/jitters where the Ace Pro doesn't do this and with PureVideo on, it's a no brainer.

BTW do u take DM customers to Gili Selang?

Hi. Any dive site can be dangerous or interesting and fun with a right knowledge and experience. Most of the dives in Indonesia are with the currents but can’t say Amed is dangerous. Those accidents happened not because of currents but because people freediving or diving alone. Also diving without local guide is illegal in Indonesia by law. Gili Selang or Crystal bay is the same -wrong time of diving can be dangerous. I’ve been diving both dive sites since almost 9 years now and it never been out of control. We do Gili Selang also with comfortable AOWD’s.

Deeper than that it's better to use light to get quality footage. In this video I used it only inside the cavern and to light up under the corals. The rest is without external light.
