Don’t lie to the people. Kennedy was pulling OUT of Nam. Johnson and his Texas cronies wanted that war. Johnson STARTED it. Period.

Part of the problem is the same issue the Chinese have. Experience. It takes decades and blood and sweat to learn how to run a carrier group. Neither Russia or China have that experience.

The Germans did not have the sea lift capacity, the specialized landing craft, the speciaiized units and training-recall the scene of the British beachmaster in "The Longest Day"-had not conducted the extensive beach and and landing site reconnaissance, did not really understand the effects of tides and currents.. And they did not have air superiority, let alone air supremacy. They had not grasped that an amphibious operation on the .ocean is not just a river crossing on a larger scale.

Many early aircraft motors were lubricated with castor oil, and the fumes often gave pilots the shitz. Later they switched to hempseed oil which has a higher temperature resistance, without the laxative effect.

Dad said he never took dexies but he smoked a crapload of weed in Nam. For context, my dad was a Rifleman/RTO in the Americal Division, in a company nicknamed the Jungle Warriors, and they were a front line combat unit that saw significant action, which includes the ambush in which Pfc David F Winder was killed while giving aid to wounded comrades, rallying the rest of the unit to recover and win the battle. Pfc Winder was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.

27:07 These images were not shown in the USA when it happened. In the Netherlands we saw the bodies of the dead service men being dragged through the streets. I can understand the reluctance to show these images, but on the other hand, people deserve the truth, even if it is ugly.

Now imagine how the war would’ve turned out if the Americans, when they arrived in England, had invaded Europe somewhere behind the German trenches, say…Antwerp. They would’ve squeezed the Germans trenches from the rear while the French & British were in their front. What would the Germans have done?
