I use fluorescent lamps with electronic ballasts every day and I can say that they are reliable personally, I use Osram electronic ballasts, but this ballast exists and is sold in my country! They are definitely better than magnetic ballasts, as they offer a longer life to the lamp due to the delayed start that lasts about 2-3 seconds but unfortunately there are electronic ballasts mainly older ones where the lamp does not preheat, that is, it turns on immediately, this is of course bad for the fluorescent lamp! this is a good quality and reliable ballast and costs somewhere around 30-40$ if I am not mistaken

Yes. In the USA the lamps that turn on full brightness immediately without flickering or the ends glowing for a second or two are called instant start. Almost all, probably 9 out of 10 F32T8 lamps are operated from an instant start electronic ballast, which is harder on the lamps, but these lamps can also be used with rapid start or programmed start ballasts of which are available with 0-10 dimming capability, although this is very uncommon and costs about 3 times as much as an electronic instant start ballast. Some lamps have filaments that cannot be preheated and only suitable for use with instant start ballasts. Such lamps almost always have a single pin on each end and this is most commonly found on the 72 and 96 inch lamps, and much less common in the smaller lamps. There were also two bi-pin lamps made several years ago in the past that were for use only with instant start ballasts, the F40T12/IS & F40T17/IS lamps, the pins of these lamps are short circuited inside the end caps, making them in effect a single pin base, equivalent to the F48T12 lamps.

Seen that street light lantern over here in 🇬🇧, ours had the high-pressure sodium arc bulbs in them. Interesting to see a compact fluorescent bulb in yours and that they originated in 🇪🇺. All have been replaced with LED lanterns 😒

The Philips brand name for everything lighting is owned by the Chinese Signify for quite some years now. I like this solution and think more brands should (be forced to) do this. Saves a lot of unnecessary waste and also time! And when done right with a quality fixture from a quality brand, this is better than just replacing the entire fixture. And it looks like the LED itself is also replaceable which is really good whenever it should. Again: Better than needing to replace the entire fixture which is usually a badly designed fixture...

Signify N.V. was created from Philips lighting in 2016 after the demerger from the Philips holding. It has been agreed that Signify can use the Philips brand name for another 10 years. Signify is a Dutch company with its head office in Eindhoven, although a lot is produced in China.

@NMGN75 Hey, I see "Philps", "Signify", "Made in China" and really, really poor products in everyday life but also on this channel like the SON bulbs a few days ago. Do I need to say more or can we agree that it's basically junk with good marketing? And for me a NO-NO.

You just earned another subscriber here :-) Lighting is a lifelong interest of mine, I started to be obsessed with lamps at the tender age of 3. During the years I collected literally hundreds of lamps, dozens of ballasts and fluorescent fixtures and even a handful of street lights and HID fixtures of various types, and I still have all of them. One of the street lamps is actually being employed at lighting my studio and it's turned on behind my back as I'm writing this comment. It's a small Siemens SiStellar running a single 80W Osram mercury vapour bulb. There are a couple of lighting-related videos on my channel, even if its topic is music and synthesizers.
