Dylan Dylan Dylan! He’s showing out in this tourney with his sneaky athleticism, relentlessness getting to the rim, HIGH bball IQ, PnR prowess…he’s ahead of Ace at this point …Ace takes too many tough shots and makes it look easy at this level…but in the League everyone has length and those will quickly become contested … he needs to get to the rim … 6 times in 4 games at the rim is not nearly enough for someone with his skills, size and athleticism… he just dribbles to get to a spot to pull up like he’s running drills… if this changes sky is the limit for him

I dont understand why people think the magic should draft more guards. Especially with this coach. They need to trade for someone who's already producing in the league, not try another 19 year old out. They need a center or another 6 10+ forward through the draft so they can get away from wcj and Jonathan issac's injuries

Wow, so many multiple pick teams going to kill it in this nice draft. Fun episode - I think Cooper's 1 and Demin's 2 at this point regardless of fit at least imo. Demin's been playing pretty good defense and his overall game (I'll admit against inferior comp) has been very silky smooth while he makes his teammates around him better. Demin isn't the athlete maybe Ace Bailey is, but he's not a push over either. And the way he commands the offense looks real good. Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper might be the guys on their team, but it's like they are playing a 2 man game of H.O.R.S.E. on the court instead of winning. They're great prospects, but still have growing pains to go through that's more apparent than Demin has showed at least so far. Either way, some teams are going to pick some great talent this year.

Bailey’s handle definitely is a bit wobbly and his shot selection is atrocious from what I seen, but I don’t see a single reason prospect aside from Flagg that can challenge him for a top 2 pick. Once he grows out of the Tatum syndrome - 6’9 and refuse to drive to the rim despite being insanely gifted-he will be great

Very toolsy. A little raw but he's got great physical tools and creativity that you can't teach. Another pg I'd like to see covered more is another reclass from last year, dj thomas. My big board has changed already since this episode aired... I'm willing to bet so did the rankings of the No Ceilings crew. I'm pretty sure Philon's higher after dismantling Illinois as an example... I'm suspecting Will Riley's moving up next time. Here's what my lotteryish big board looks like atm: Cooper Flagg - F - Duke Ace Bailey - F - Rutgers Dylan Harper - G - Rutgers Egor Demin - G/F - BYU Nolan Traore - G - France Tre Johnson - SG/SF - Texas Labaron Philon - G/SF - Alabama Ben Saraf - G - Israel Noa Essengue - F - France Khaman Maluach - PF/C - Duke Will Riley - SG/SF - Illinois Asa Newell - PF/C - Georgia VJ Edgecombe - G - Baylor Flory Bidunga - PF/C - Kansas Joson Sanon - SG/SF - Arizona State I'm curious... any way Philon can catch Demin? Or is that crazy talk? Idk, but I think that matchup would be crazy intriguing. Anyways, thanks again for the episode, informative and entertaining both!

BYU fan here. Egor has been even better than I could have hoped for. If there is one weakness I see in his game its his handle against aggressive on-ball defense. Being so tall he'll need to make sure his handle is extremely tight.

I think Ace has the most upside in this draft, he reminds me a lot of micheal porter jr, but is clearly more athletic than him. I'd have him in the same tier as cooper as I feel cooper has a higher floor, but Ace has a higher offensive motor, which will make him more valuable in the nba, which is a scorers league.

Egor Demin reminds me of Goran Dragic. He's a really good passing and can consistently make good reads, but he doesn't scream star upside to me. In in short, he doesn't wow me, but there's still plenty of season left to do so. As far as Ace Bailey I want to see him make better reads on and off the ball. Right now Rutgers is using him as a hired gun. They know he can make any shot on the court so its basically quick shots before the defense keys in on him. The star upside is there.

Ace Bailey is around the 5 ish range for me as a prospect because of his shot selection, shyness from contact and his lack of creating space, I know yall said it doesn’t matter cause he’s 6’10 but the concern is when he’s in the nba and there’s more length if he can consistently hit these extremely difficult shots and he’s not a good defender rn either, I understand he’s young but we can’t just say he’s gonna get better at all these weaknesses he has I know it’s possible but if you did that with every prospect they would be all be extremely good. Hes still around the top 5 range because I do think he is still a really good prospect but not close to egor or Flagg imo
@NoCeilingsNBA6 күн бұрын
I’m not sure we said it doesn’t completely matter, I think people are simply just obsessing too much with that narrative. As we talk about in the episode, yes we agree and understand some of his improvement areas. But those areas don’t need to be magnified while also not showcasing how impressive his strengths are. Everything matters in scouting. Also, we didn’t say all of his weaknesses would be fixed, we said what are his skills that will get him on an nba court. Every NBA player has holes in their game, it’s about can their strengths impact a team at a high level

I don't like to over-hype guys- because it's hard to see how their abilities will translate in the NBA. But his passing, IQ and court vision would have worked in any decade. And I miss the 80s and 90s toughness and defense- no question. I hate to even say this, but his level of running an offense with passing and vision is rare- like Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Lebron and Luka rare. Stockton and Magic- we're not going there yet lol. Not that he's as good as them or close to their abilities overall- just that aspect of his game is there no doubt The first time in the first half I watched him play- actually even the first 5 minutes, it was obvious he's on a different level with his court vision than anyone else outside Luka and Lebron right now. That's how good he is.

Well that's debatable for sure! I'm no Luka fan, but I can't deny his greatness. Career Stats Lebron 7.2 A Harden 7.1 A Luka 8.3 A Now these are just numbers, so it doesn't completely tell the story of their passing. Lebron, with his longevity being a great passer I would put him at the top of those 3. His pure passing and court vision I think is a notch above Luka and Harden.

@Biszzle9 күн бұрын
I think his shot may be off an on with the Big 12 schedule, which is the closest thing he'll get to NBA. He'll need to learn the areas he can get his shot off with the more physical defenses. However, he will be a mismatch nightmare- are you going to put a 6'2" guard on him since he's the PG? You put your SF on him, and then your PG has to guard another guy that's a mismatch. And Egor will get that guy easy looks for a player 6" smaller than him. So he's going to punish the other team. But one thing for sure- his court vision, patience, ball handling, pin-point passing accuracy, and just being aware of defenses and knowing how to exploit them is a natural gift he has that will translate anywhere he goes.
@williamphillips30359 күн бұрын
@@Biszzle I don't deny what you're saying and I agree to an extent but going against a Houston and Kansas defense is way different than those teams they've played already. The length and athleticism is a lot more disruptive in the best basketball conference in the NCAA. When Cade Cunningham was at OKLAHOMA State he was an All-Conference, All American and 1st pick in the draft out of the Big 12 and he had some rough nights against other squads in the conference.

@@williamphillips3035 I get it. I think we're both saying the same thing. It's not going to be as easy against the Big 12 competition- he's never played against defenses that intense (sorry but Europe doesn't play much D lol). But I think with how fast he's learned adjusting to D1 ball compared to what he played in Europe (he is in fact a freshman) he will adjust to the Big 12 as well. But you're right- he's not going to put up 18 pts and 8 Assists a game every night like he has been.

For me, sometimes you see a guy play and they are doing things that are just prodigious for where you would assume they should be. And, going by a small sample size is always the known caveat to keep in mind. However, having said this, Demin is an outlier to me in that when you see this 6'9" long kid who demonstrates such court vision, maturity, IQ, poise, shooting, athleticism, and effort of defense, it's pretty tempting to say... you know what these past two games have already shown me all I need to know!
@roywall816911 күн бұрын
With Demin, I haven’t seen an 18 year old play this slow…..ever. He will be a special player. After 4 games, his biggest area for growth is his dribble. It may be because of his height, but his dribble is a bit “lazy”. When he has been pressured by quick guards, they have picked his pocket a couple times. It will be fun watching him adjust. BYU may have Dallin Hall bring the ball up, but have Demin initiate offense? On the other hand, coach Young has said he is about developing players to make them NBA ready, so he may put Demin in those situations so he can improve through experience.
@roywall816911 күн бұрын
I have a hard time with Flagg. Yet another Duke player that “does everything well”. He reminds me of Gordon Hayward (who was a league average player at everything, but did nothing at an elite level). That is not a number one pick. I see him being “elitely average”. He has every chance to prove me wrong.
