Would it have been easier just to buy or hire a press?

Dont have access to a press personally so couldnt say, was a quick enough job with some threaded rod.

Hello I’m about to fit these to my car. What do you think of them
@projectsprojectsprojects89222 ай бұрын
I highly rate the IL motorsport competition bushes for a dual purpose car (half road, half track day), there quiet, need no maintenance and improve the handling significantly at all speeds, if i was racing id run something stiffer like delrin or spherical, if it was a pure road car with stock power, id run stock bushes.

@@projectsprojectsprojects8922I’ve installed them but they keep sliding out of the control arm!
@projectsprojectsprojects8922Ай бұрын
@@sebastianclack3956 if you used any kind of lubricant, this could cause this issue. The bushes can be installed with water or any drying solvent that doesnt harm rubber. I used just warm water, no soap either. Another common cause I've seen on the upper front control arm, is forgetting the large thick flat washer, one of these is required at each end of the long bolt to keep the bushes preloaded and the arm attached securely. Hope this helps and you get it all sorted!

Это пример ненужного тюнинга, ибо если бы так было с завода, то обязательно кто то придумал поставить хром

Unnecessary yes, but the number of people who notice the lack of chrome and comment something like "why didnt mazda do this from factory" is quite remarkable.

Hi, I'm looking for buying the bushing. Can you give me a feedback after some rides ? Thanks
@projectsprojectsprojects8922 Жыл бұрын
Hi there, thanks for the comment. I highly rate these bushings for a dual purpose car, one that is equally at home on the road, as it is on track. The NVH (noise vibration harshness) is moderately increased, so you may notice a small increase in vibration from the road surface. The big change will be when you turn the steering wheel, the car will feel tighter and respond quicker to your inputs. These were an absolute game changer for my mx5, more control, hold lines in corners tighter. The major benefit these have over polyurethane bushes, is that they require zero maintenance or regular lubrication just like the factory bushes. I regularly drive 200 miles on track and daily the mx5, i don't believe any comfort is really lost and recommend the IL motorsport rubber bushes to pretty much everyone! Hope this helps!

Maybe stupid question but: do you need one of those coil compressors to take out the suspension if you want to do this? Or does the suspension stay put?

my control arms look about the same as yours. Was it a huge hassle to grind them and repaint them? And how did you repaint them (how many layers and how many cans did you need)? Thanks in advance!

Hi, thanks for comment. I actually ended up electrolysis dipping the upper control arms, and wire wheeling the lower arms. Electrolysis was painless and can be left overnight. My advice would be to pay someone to blast them. Paint wise, I used POR15, one quart tin will do all suspension components. Just make sure to follow the instructions to the letter! I then used Isopon zinc 182 aerosol as a tieing primer, and top coated with 2k Colour. I used a total of 3 aerosols of isopon zinc 182 for the arms, and less than 0.5L of 2k paint total (1L once mixed and thinned). Hope this helps

Nice vid.. The bushings on my 1991 MX-5 are completely vaporised.. They didn't notice it at the MOT check though. They might still be OK in terms of play because it's such a light car but I'm replacing them with the exact same IL Motorsport ones, which are very nice. Not too stiff and creaky like poly bushings but just a bit sportier than OEM 👍 Sounds like you're on a F-1 track with those sped up motorcycles in the background ;-)
