Take away who pays for the reparations aside. What do you think the government would actually give. This $6 million number we keep hearing people want for every man woman and child ain’t happening. Let’s get over that, no government is that rich, even ours. So let’s give a real number. One time payment of $50K to the head of each household. Sounds great right? Now wait. 50K is a lot of money, be a nice down payment on a house or a nice investment. I own a home so I would put it in a 401K. Let it build wealth. If I was a renter I would put it down on something. Most won’t because after the down payment you got a huge mortgage bill. Not fair. $50k now you gotta pay income tax at the end of the year. There goes 20% right away. Now the $5k on wasteful spending. Then the family vacation takes $10k, now watch the other $25k go on a car. All is gone and then everyone complains that they got screwed even though they got free money. Want to really make a difference and stop excepting people to sit around the governments table looking for taxpayers crumbs and free money? Offer free tuition to state schools for every African American currently alive as of today. Now you have given people a way to better themselves. And even better they would have done it themselves.
