Some sad but revealling and very telling insights on the business of writing. Personally, I refuse to watch the tv series or more recent movies: I derive vastly more pleasure and meaning from reading the books of the Expanded Universe. The movies etc seem to target simple minds with problems very different to my own.

For those that never saw it, Cast a Deadly Spell, was a pretty good HBO movie, with Fred Ward as Lovecraft the detective who would not do magic in an LA that had not too long before the story come have magic, 1940is. Harry was played by Clancy Brown. It David Warner in it, sometimes called Evil Genius because Time Bandits was not the only time he played that sort of character. I recommend seeing it. While Fred's detective character is called Harry Philip Lovecraft, yes the movie has two Harrys but Fred is usually just called Lovecraft but despite that he is not based on HP Lovecraft. The story is has that as part of the inspiration. I watched it again recently and it was better than I had remembered when I saw it on HBO in 1991.

We need more Strahd adventures. He's a great character. Now I feel bad for making him potentially redeemable if the party helps him with his escape plans (which entail marrying Tatyana and completing work on the Apparatus that he started with Azalin). Sorry Tracy.

I approached Mr Tomlinson to get a book signed. He was noisily eating a stick of pepperoni (it wasn't wrapped or anything, so I guess he brought it from home?) and when I asked for an autograph he said 'can't you see that I'm eating, child?' but the way he phrased it sounded like there was no comma. Pretty weird guy.
