As a pennsylvanian, i STILL don’t understand why Reading, Allentown, and Lancaster aren’t included with Philadelphia metro area. If it was extended just 20-25 miles further to Lancaster, Berks, and Lehigh counties, the MSA population would boost by nearly 2 million people. It would have more people than the DC, Atlanta, and Houston metros, jumping from 8th to 5th. I know plenty of people in those counties who commute to greater Philly for work.

Saying OKC is trying to make a statement by building this building is ridiculous being as it wasn't and still isn't okc's idea to begin with. California based company came up with the idea. Actually people in Oklahoma think it's kind of ridiculous. But if California wants to build it here more power to them. Maybe they know something no one else does and huge thing are about to happen here. A building of that magnitude is one hell of a tourist attraction. That's not the only big thing being built here numerous big things are happening here. Even a theme park to rival Disney world. Look it up and see what all's being built in our little medium sized city it's insane. I think big things are getting ready to happen here. Actually the theme park is being built closer to Tulsa. But it's still Oklahoma

@@richardshipman7106 It’s great to see all the development taking place in OKC. It probably would’ve been better to say the developer wanted to make a statement rather than the city, but my overall point still remains.

It’s whole point is to bring a massive economic impact, it will skyrocket tourism and lead to a larger growth rate, if you look at Dubai before the burj it was almost exactly the same as OKC, no one thought the burj was a good idea, but the year it was completed, it skyrocket tourism and tripled its growth rate, the same thing is expected to happen to OKC, and there are so many reasons as to why that’s possible and why it’s overall a good idea. More skyscrapers and buildings will build next to it for easy recognition, like what happened in Dubai.
@jonesrmj3 ай бұрын
@@-OAK- That absolutely could happen and would be great if it did. That being said, I think OKC (and Dubai for that matter too) should make sure to keep their economies diversified because tourism isn’t always stable.
@-OAK-3 ай бұрын
@@jonesrmj well OKC is one of the most improving cities in the country, and it was also voted the best managed city a while ago, now it’s like top 5. It was also ranked the 16th best city to live in. So I think it’s good on that stuff, especially when it ranks as one of the highest in infrastructure. Tourism will lead to more money to the city to fix its problems, as well as more growth, that’s why tourism is focused on a lot by cities.
@se777en731202 ай бұрын
What makes you think OKC’s economy is not already diversified? The economic breakdown of Oklahoma City as of 2024 highlights the city’s diversified economy, with significant contributions from several key sectors: 1. Aviation and Aerospace: The largest sector, accounting for around 15-18% of the local economy, driven by Tinker Air Force Base and private-sector firms. 2. Energy (Oil & Gas): While still important, the direct contribution of energy to the workforce is smaller than often perceived, representing 7-10%. The sector has significant indirect effects on industries like manufacturing and construction. 3. Healthcare and Biosciences: This fast-growing sector contributes 15-20%, reflecting the city’s investments in health services and biotechnology. 4. Manufacturing: Approximately 5% of the economy, manufacturing in Oklahoma City focuses on machinery, metals, and food products. 5. Government and Military: Due to its role as the state capital and presence of federal employers like Tinker AFB, this sector makes up around 10-12% of the economy. 6. Logistics and Distribution: With its central location in North America, logistics accounts for 5-7% of economic activity. 7. Retail, Tourism, and Hospitality: This sector represents about 5-7%, supported by tourism and local retail growth. These estimates provide a broad view of how different sectors contribute to Oklahoma City’s economy in 2024, emphasizing its transition from an energy-dominated economy to a more diverse industrial base.

Saying that ego is the main reason for Legends is naïve. There are multiple developments underway in OKC and since MAPS started OKC has been developing at a pretty high pace. OKC is growing at twice the national average and there’s multiple mid rise mixed use developments currently in the works. The tower won’t be built until 50% of the smaller buildings are leased. By then, the plans for the tower will likely have changed. I just don’t understand the general hate towards the project. When you consider what’s currently being developed and planned, legends certainly isn’t pointless. In addition to some added tourism, the point of the project is to attract developers. This may seem unconventional to some, but you have to build buildings if you want more of them..
@jonesrmj3 ай бұрын
@@MrMannyfresh78 I think that my video on the project is pretty well balanced. Yes OKC is growing fast, and I’m happy to see more development there, but a skyscraper of this size simply doesn’t make economic or practical sense there. The developer himself even mentioned that Legends Tower is about making a statement. That’s basically the point I was trying to convey in my video, as mostly everything I said was objective. My video in no way was negative towards the project. In fact, I even said I would be happy to see it get built because it could maybe help the US get back into the skyscraper race, which would be great to see as a skyscraper enthusiast.
@scottwood9283 ай бұрын
Hope it gets built! Only 34 years ago, Chicago and New York City had the most impressive skylines on earth. Now, many cities in Asia have skyscrapers and skylines that are more exceptional than those in The USA. This building would help redeem American architecture. Also, it would attract tourists to OKC. I would travel from Toronto to OKC to see it.
@jonesrmj3 ай бұрын
@@scottwood928 It definitely would be cool to see the US build something taller!
@mickmaster14783 ай бұрын
As an engineer, I can safely say that there is no practical reason for the Legends Tower to be built. Skyscrapers themselves are quite difficult to build and maintain, and their large size can lead to its residents being isolated. Skyscrapers only really make sense in places with a lack of space, which is the opposite problem Oklahoma city is dealing with. A tall building would certainly look cool, but once the novelty wears off a series of mid-rises would be much more practical for the people living there.
@jonesrmj3 ай бұрын
@@mickmaster1478 Agreed! Pretty much exactly what I talked about in the video. Thanks for watching!
@scottwood9283 ай бұрын
most of these supertall skyscrapers are not practical. They are built to "look cool," and for bragging rights. In my opinion, it would be a good draw for Oklahoma City , which does not much else to offer.
