Do you still have this car? Is so, how many miles are not on it? There is a 2001 in my Neighborhood for sale with 34,000 miles. It is the same color as yours. I am thinking about purchasing it.

I like the body of this ES much more than the refresh the following year 2002. But the interior of this model feels less luxury, and there's no rear AirCon/heat.

Has anyone taken it on any road trips recently and what kind of maintenance have you had?
@motoring905611 ай бұрын
No, the car is long gone. It was totaled back in 2019. As for maintenance, I did the standard Preventative Maintenance. The big service are, Timing belt and water pump replacement, that’s done per 100k or 10 years. Which ever comes first.

My grandmother has a 2001 Lexus ES300 which has two tone paint grey the bottom but the rest of the car is black. A few chips in the paint here and there but looks nice enough people constantly offer her money to buy the car. I'm 5-11 and I find I can't really get the best seating position when I drive it. Also I think the climate controls I said a little bit too low in the dash for a push button layout like that. Other than those complaints the very quiet nice riding car.

Not crazy about the steering wheel? I actually don't mind the bigger airbag compartment. The overall look of the wheel is fine for my taste. If you want to see ug ug ugly, I can't stand the mid to late 2000's parts bin looking hideous chevy steering wheels, they were even putting them on the Camaros ack....

Just bought my 01’ ES300 with 222k Miles . It feels solid and reliable cuz it was well taken care of . Dark gray with gray leather , no rips. I’m going to tint the windows front and back and change all dome and courtesy lights with LED so it seems more modern and bright ! I have less anxiety driving it unlike my BMW X5 which has been draining my pockets

Wow this is such a clean Es. The cars of this era that had this engine really need that 5th gear. You can kinda feel it when driving on the highway. Doesn’t feel terrible but if you’ve driven anything else, you know it needs that extra gear

My 98 es300 went to 400k, had to change the transmission once. Eventually junked it but I just bought a used one with 250k miles for $2800. Its 2000 model platinum edition in a pearl white color. Owner recently had rebuilt the transmission and fixed the leaky power steering issue they commonly have. Hoping I can drive to 500k. One of the best cars ever made by Toyota! Legendary and built to last!

I'm looking at a 2000 Lexus es300 (same engine) all the fluids are clean, but this car will be bought at an auction for really cheap, however it has 255k miles, is it worth it? the rest of the car is in great shape except low coolant and gas cap replacement. (It will sell around 400$) can't start the car because the auction doesn't have a key, so it's a risk. but for so cheap...

If you put the key in the driver side door and turn it backwards to unlock but HOLD the key in the unlock position - it will roll down both front windows and the sunroof. If you hold it in the forward position it will lock all the doors and close the front windows and sun roof.

At 22:55 you mention the acceleration is linear - I have had a 1998 ES300 for 12 years and a 2000 ES300 for 4 years (16 years cumulative with the ES300) and if you get on an empty highway and go about 25-30mph and then put the pedal down enough that the car accelerates but DOES NOT SHIFT gears ... you'll see it accelerates linearly till about 3000 rpm and then at 3000 you'll feel a boost that will put you back in your seat a bit - there's a definite boost at the 3000 rpm point. If you pay attention to your acceleration (acceleration done somewhat gently but firmly) you will definitely start to see that there IS a boost at 3000 and above. It is there ... you will start to notice it after you drive it enough.

what year did the ES300 emblem transfer onto the trunk? I have a '92 with the emblem on the taillight just like this car, but I've seen some later models than mine (97's etc.) with emblem on trunk. Is this just a custom change that ES owners do themselves or did Lexus move the emblem up after a certain year?

Ok, so the 92 model is completely different from the 97 to 01. They did move the emblem, the emblem was moved in 00 to 01 models. Mine is the face lift model of the xv20 es300
