Fanny, nasceu quatro anos antes de seu irmão Felix, mas faleceria no mesmo ano de Felix, aos 42 anos de idade. É difícil determinar quem influenciou quem, já que a marca Mendelsshon de fazer permeia a produção dos dois irmãos. De Fanny, o que conhecemos nos mostra uma autora de excepcional competência e de uma cativante sensibilidade feminina! Viveu pouco, mas soube mostrar a que veio, e certamente muito mais haverá a ser mostrado. Já Felix seu irmão, produziu uma enormidade de obras que são ouvidas em áudio e agora também em áudio e vídeo, e como Mozart que também teve vida curta está presente nas melhores salas de concertos com seu monumental legado. Acredito que a cada ser iluminado que Deus coloca neste mundo, o faz com encargo e tempo determinados, ao final dos quais os chama ao seu reino, talvez para novas incumbências.

What a wonderful surprise for the last day of Chanukah! Though you must have meant it for a more Christian purpose. I will always remember the antphonies of this first movement when I was in Zamir Chorale as a college sophomore. I am disappointed at the lack of a boy soprano in the second movement - but the soprano's voice is beautiful indeed.

I love how the strings are allowed to really sing. They’re almost an afterthought in some performances, but here, they fully complement the choir. This makes a big difference, for example, at 2:25 where the transition back to the strings is so lush and rich
