By the end of the year it was actually a decent car, albeit still a handful. I may be in the minority but I've always loved the way the F92 looked. Especially with the brighter Marlboro red they switched to. Not as nice as the 89/90/91 cars but it was the best looking one until the 412T2 a few years later. The 89, 90 and 95 cars were good enough to win a title if it wasn't for the gearbox/clutch reliability issues. The 92 and 93 cars had a major engine defect and they blew up all the time. So it was always either the gearbox or the engine letting go that let them down in that era. Bummer they didn't stick with the 3.0L V12 until that ruleset concluded at the end of the 97 season. The ugliest Ferrari livery though was the 93 car with that awful white stripe.

The A20 engine , 2000 season had 780hp maybe 790 hp. The max rpms was only 16100 rpm, because of big stroke. Big piston stroke made difficult to go in higher rpms. But power is not calculated only from rpms. Power is also calculated from torque diagram. And Peugeot because of big stroke had highest torque diagram. So the max rpms of the engine , in 2000 season was 16100 rpms, 1000 rpm less than the other engines, but with highest torque diagram, the gap of power was not big , because of bigger torque. This means that the engine deliver an amount of power in lower rpms. In 16100 rpms the engine had already reach 780 hp.

Cheers for the memories mate. Ask nowadays' drivers to take one hand off the electronically enhanced steering wheel for a manual shifting with the other hand and they'll shit their pants. Dunno if I'm just old; but aren't speed and gears the only thing a driver needs to be seeing on his display in order to drive? And let's not even talk about the difference in raw sounds...

For me the early 90's F1 was the most brutal ever, not the fastest but the most brutal the fact that you could actually see how much the driver has to work to drive that. Really just makes you idolize these guys in a way that you just cant idolize the current drivers in f1

Shame that Michael got injured mid season and pretty much out of title contention, considering this car won the constructors championship in the end.
