British fans of a certain age will start tingling at 13:10 of Spare Parts Express. The sample starting there is from a great British institution - a famous children's news programme called Newsround, helmed by the incomparable John Cravens 👌

One of my favorite techno albums of all time. The late 90s were the best period for electronic music. The music of the 2020s has no meaning, with so many songs having empty lyrics. Love Orbital!!

Saw them at a club called Trees in Dallas in 1994. Great live act! Liked them since Choice was a single in early 1991.

Ridiculously epic album; while the "Green" and "Brown" albums are absolutely essential for progressive house lovers, "Middle of Nowhere" is the artistic apotheosis of Orbital's entire career IMHO, I love that late 90s breakbeat/big beat style that seemed so sadly fleeting at the time. I remember "Spare Parts Express" was the first Orbital track I ever heard, and I immediately knew then that I had to hear the entire album from beginning to end... suffice to say, it was a musical experience like no other. Stone cold classic.

I think green and brown are techno albums rather than progressive house, but I think In Sides and The Middle of Nowhere are Orbital's high points. Their 2nd to 5th albums are filled with gods.

Fun fact: The woman doing the vocal on Halcyon is the daughter of the guy who did the theme tunes for Grange Hill and Countdown.

I lost my father few days ago. He introduced me to orbital with this album when i was arround 10, i am 36 now and i would'nt have become an electronic musician if it wasn't thanks to him, and to Orbital. I will always cherish this one from beginning to end. I love you Dad.

Glad you like this album. It's a little less raw and more restrained in some ways than earlier stuff so not as many people get into it. But when you hear the Orbitalness shine through it's wonderful. And I'm sorry for your father but so glad he was able to share this with you!! I like Otoño the best!

There was an MTV ad in the 90s with dolphins blowing water rings and the music was a soft 303 bassline and a man's voice trying to hypnotize, "Relax, listen to my voice". I'm pretty sure it's an Orbital track. I think I even found it years ago, but it's forgotten now. Anyone know?
