Isnt this kind of Lying? Is that allowed to Lie like this to promote a Movie ?

This series has been amazing. I am admittedly not a cinema "nerd", and have never understood the anti-CGI comments from Hollywood. There are scenes that even a child can comprehend are not real. Movie goers are buying the tickets regardless, why the need to lie to us? With the incredible amount of work that goes into making a movie, the work should be celebrated. It is still someone's art on the screen, regardless if they used technology, or matte painting, or whatever other tool was used. Liked and subscribed! Keep up the great work.

the added clown sound in the Bond corkscrew jump really ruined it. It's probably the best car stunt ever done.

Films these days are 80% CGI, yet the actors and the studios wanna keep up with this no CGI bull**** They should embrace CGI and say no cheap CGI was used when its invisible CGI...

Is there any kind of betting pool going on how long the “no cgi” ting is going to last before it becomes “no ai was used”? With the backlash on the CocaCola ads and ToyrsRUs ads happening, I imagine the new toy is too attractive to put down. That being said, as it gets better and less noticeable, all studios are going to start standing behind “no ai was used” because it will have aged out and now be considered the new “VFX”? My only hope is that the VFX people stick together because it could be an opportunity to stop being over worked and under paid.

Jackie Chan always praised his stunt team. And this is a legend who did a lot of things himself. And here at the end of the video we are supposed to believe that two girls fell through the window themselves or something? It's funny how marketers manipulate us.

More than anything else I think what has been the turning point for CGI is not so much the models but the match moving that has been responsible for "hiding" CG work. Back in Jurassic park days i could always tell when a CG model was on screen because of the very slight "Weave" in the compositing. I even looked for it. They've all but gotten rid of the "Weave" . Now they can completely lock an effect in the frame.

Yes. We shoot it practically, for a lighting reference!! And then we get rid of all of it and replace everything with digital. (I am tired of hearing this crap. Its dishonest BS).

Back in the late 1980s, CGI promised to be the most fantastic cinematic advancement since the talkies. Imagine a future that delivers outstanding, seamless special effects. No more rapid cuts shot in the shadows. No more miniatures that look like toys. We were excited as children on Christmas Eve. What a lie... Instead of Rib Eye Steak we are served up Offal. It's a scam.

It simultaneously also proves the point - how good , i mean how mind blowing the VFX AND CG Artists are . Swear to god if i ever get to make a film at a larger scale with CGI and VFX , will boast it very loud , so that it gets down the throat of liers and people who want to believe those Lies! CGI / VFX is not just "art" like its not as simple as pushing a button or painting a Canvas. For the VFX /CGI Guys reading the comment , a big hug goes towards you guys man! Truly the Best People atleast for me

I think the people of the general public who say they hate cgi are mainly talking about Superman's upper lip in Justice League or a terrible climax battle where it's just 2 cgi people "fighting" and it all feels incredibly fake.

Bald-faced lies. Not even trying to hide it, since they also worked on all those behind the scenes shots. Just lies during the marketing run to try to maximize the box office opening. It's like how no one got mad at Obama when he promised us green energy and the end of US imperialism.

20 years ago I loved watching how they made movies. Even bought DVDs like "Behind the Matrix", or watched the Lord of the Rings specials, where they showed everything. Working in CGI was my dream job a a child. Now I try to get something like that to explain to my kids how movies are made. That stuff is so hard to find nowadays! It's frustrating!

The problem isnt cgi. majority of the time its invisible. and when you do think you see it. more often than not your seeing something practical, But since practical cant be finnessed like cgi to the directors every whim its often practical effects that stands out. NOW that said. for CGI that does stand out, once again its more often than not, not the failure of cgi or its artists but rather the timeframe and budget of the production and most common is the simple fact that the idea of which cgi has been used is so blatantly outrageous and stupid an idea that when it fails instead of laying blame on those who created the idea, they shift the blame on the people that brought it to fruition. We give far far FAR too much credit to directors and writers. both of whom are just bad at what they do. That shot shown earlier fast and the furious, cars jumping from building to building. what a blatantly dumb idea. but instead of blaming the idea and the creator they blame the artists and cgi.

I genuinely believed Top Gun Maverick got real jets to fly from the military. Similar to how older movies worked closely with the military for assets. At most I thought the real planes were composited together for safety concerns. It’s scary to not pick up on effects.

I think what people often mean by “practical effects” is the use of real, physical objects and components to create a VFX shot. For example, crashing a real car and generating a real explosion, or filming miniatures to composite with the live actors, etc.

I knew CGI was being used extensively and often very seamlessly but didn't realize studios were so blatantly lying about it. In general, I have no problem with CGI myself but I do wonder why certain movement is still seemingly intentionally exaggerated in CGI sometimes. If people hate CGI so much, youd think VFX people would attempt to make all movement as natural as possible.

The main problem with CGI is that the VFX artists break the laws of physics to often and that breaks the immersion in the film and as a viewer you just loose interest because everything looks so fake.

My two cents: the use of practical effects gives a small better guidance on physics and “real world behavior” than a purely CGI shot. Models aren’t superior, but are just a bit more grounded, specially with the of scaled models, but cgi is just as important.

3:42 this was actually filmed by my house. LOTS of film productions in these woods including the opening battle in “gladiator”, the car sequence from “children of men”, “harry potter and the deathly hallows pt.1” and many more. in “Napoleon”, there is a massive ice lake in that location… no such lake exists.
