Arab music has always been my favourite! I know this is english but the fusion of Arabic instrumental and sound part makes this special.

So glad to find this again. I had it on dvd, great 10 days of jamming where Sting bought so many great musicians and artists together into his Italian home. This was the precursor to the concert the night before, in his courtyard, for the locals. Unfortunately by the next morning 9/11 happened so the full show did not proceed, and Chen Mami did not play at the event. I assume as at that time emotions were running high. Still one of my favourite songs. All so very talented.

One of the best live performances in music history.

If only I could hear this live before I become totally deaf, I will be the most grateful person alive. Music lover losing your hearing is like losing your life.

I like that this has the original outro with Quentin Crisp's voice at the end (the older gentleman featured in the video, about whom Sting's version was written), that was clipped from the re-released video in 2011.

This video puts everything this song is about together perfectly and gives you the visual effect along with the audio that this song has been able to project since the first time I heard it! This is exactly what I pictured whenever I heard this song. Absolutely beautiful!😍🥰

Recorded 9-10-2001. I saw the HBO special about this. It was a rehearsal performance for a concert the next night, 9-11. When the performers found out about the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon they decided to have the show but tone it down. They weren't going to let the terrorist win.
