You consistently downplay Ryzeal’s strengths. Just because it doesn’t build massive boards like Snake-Eyes or Yubel doesn’t mean it isn’t an oppressive and dominating force, I see it as comparable to Zoodiac in its prime, which built much smaller boards than the Pendulum decks before it but had a high enough floor and room for techs to be dominant. When you say things like “I think Memento is definitely the best deck” after the most recent OCG ban list and then Ryzeal gets over 10x more tops you lose credibility.

Hard agree on your assessment of Kashtira, while Arise Heart is a mistake that should never have been printed, the deck itself loses to a single book of moon, and specially to high impact cards like Nibiru, a card they never play around. I loved bullying Kashtira players with my Ninja structure deck back when it was considered one of the best decks in MD.

Yeah I never understood why people throw the term Tier 0 around so casually now. it's funny that in the TCG before our most recent Ban list people often said Snake eyes was Tier 0 with Yubel being a "worse" Snake-eyes deck despite other decks constantly winning events. also if they have to include a 2nd deck as a note to a tier 0 deck that deck isn't a real tier 0. sure in the past it happened but Yubel is not the anti Snake-eyes nor the other way around so they aren't sharing tier 0. people in the TCG just like to be overly annoyed at yugioh right now with some of the more recently popular rising top players being overly vocal on their annoyance with the game while Older players just don't care and are playing since they enjoy the game over other TCGs. and not trying to make money of the prizing for events.

I don't think we mad at the OCG per say, im pretty sure we in the TCG see the OCG as the cure! I think the frustration comes from how the TCG handles these top decks. Good cards are a lot harder/expensive to get in the TCG, because of this, it is in konamis best interest to not hit these more expensive cards if they want to keep their current system. Knowing this, once we see a good new deck in the ocg, we know its going to be expensive and the deck is probably here to say. Snek eyes was hit hard by the ocg and the tcg around the same time.. the difference being that the snek eyes went UNTOUCHED until we started limiting cards. They just hit everything around it. Its more of a TCG frustration man. Which is why i dont play this game seriously. The company doesn't really respect its fans here. But yea, OCG is the cure and we all know this xD

Ryzeal players disrespecting Yubel/Memento and not run Dweller is kinda crazy to me, Dweller is always a mandatory include in my Ryzeal deck over cards like Bagooska or Dugares. I also experimented with Toybox engine for a combo variant of Ryzeal over floodgates, honestly it's pretty bad into every single hand trap but it's much more fun to play.

About the negativity spread by tcg players: the issue is that you almost never see people online "oh i think the format is fine", you almost exclusively see the negative posts which is an inherent issue with social media. there are a still a bunch of people in the tcg who like it (enough) but they just dont post online or they dont have that much reach. And the recent price discussions, disappointing banlists, worry about fuwa etc. just clouds the general sentiment so its easier for creators to exploit negative posts.

It refers to the card art itself. This is a difference that is not really talked about when comparing OCG and TCG players. To put in rather simpler terms, TCG players tend to like "cool, gritty, grotesque monsters, badass warriors and spellcasters" i.e. MTG-like fantasy or DM-era aesthetics, and hate cards with anime-style art, especially "waifu" decks. On the other hand, OCG players much prefer the anime-style art and "waifu" decks, and doesn't really like MTG-style fantasty aesthetics at all. And this also explains why MTG isn't that big in Asia compared to Yugioh, Duel Masters, Weiss Schwarz, and other games, because the card art itself is unattractive to the people.

Yea like the other guy said, dont underestimate card art when people make their decisions on what deck to play. A lot of complaints as of late in the TCG have more so been about the price, but I agree that TCG players have been quick to judge the format as of late (myself included). I'm only skeptical towards the current TCG meta because we only have early results right now for our format, but from the looks of it, Fuwalos has surprisingly revitalized a lot of previously irrelevant decks. So I am pleasantly surprised about the impact its had on the game, and it does seem to be more well designed than Maxx "C" despite still being incredibly strong (not to mention that we may see less people on D Shifter since it conflicts with being drawn off Fuwalos). I'll probably be picking up Sky Striker again this format if I don't find something else that's more interesting. In the case of Ryzeol: I only keep up with the OCG in order to try and plan out my online purchases. I don't follow the meta itself too closely and i don't know much about it other than that its a pretty consistent rank 4 engine, but I have certainly heard players describe it as tier 0 before like you mentioned. As far as the alternative format i'm working on goes, i've only really limited the Tachyon searchers pre-emptively since i'm trying to shake up the meta for this format (though if we don't get those cards before the Blue-Eyes structure deck comes out, i'll just take it off the list since it won't even be in the legal card pool for the debut version of the format). As for the Kashtira point: while I agree its wasn't technically a tier 0 deck, Ariseheart definitely gatekept a lot of decks from playing in that format, which was why a lot of people were frustrated. You either needed to see your Book of Moon type cards in your opening hand, or you were generally fucked. It just wasn't fun gameplay. Like, for as much shit as DUNE and AGOV got at the time for being "too diverse" and being difficult to sideboard, it certainly was a lot of fun to play because you could play just about any deck. Honestly, i'm hoping that Fuwalos helps to bring the game back to that point again, because its when Yugioh is at its best imo.

With regards to Kashtira, as an OCG player it really blows my mind how TCG players say that "Kashtira is a fun healthy deck, just ban Ariseheart!" with a straight face. They completely ignore how the maindeck Kashtira monsters still invalidate so many decks BY THEMSELVES, specifically Fenrir and Unicorn. And I'm glad that OCG decided to kill the deck (AND THOSE TWO MENTIONED) for good.

@@ryuuohdeltaplus7936 I would not lose sleep if we finally hit either of those cards. God knows that nobody even plays them in the current meta, and while Fenrir is whatever in my opinion, Unicorn can be pretty fucking annoying depending on the meta since its just as splashable as Fenrir and punishes people simply for going second (especially if you're piloting a deck that needs to run a tight extra deck; the only deck that gets away with that atm is stuff like Tenpai).

@@ryuuohdeltaplus7936 Kash was perfectly healthy with Ariseheart in the format. Diablosis was the problem. It being a very simple combo that ended on a guy that was a huge threat that enforced simpler interaction pieces (Book of Moon, Eclipse, on-field negation) centralized the meta in ways that made it actually tolerable to play. Being able to throw a Fenrir onto the board and pass was also extremely refreshing. It was the good kind of simplification.
@babrad
@babrad 14 сағат бұрын
I will die on the hill saying Fenrir is the most healthy anti-Kashtira Kashtira card printed. - Unicorn has extra deck rip, one of the most toxic designs denying a player the opportunity to start playing and warping deckbuilding - Ogre can stack your deck and randomly remove critical one offs making RNG more important than skill - Preparations handrips and gives valuable information to the opponent - Shang PREVENTS you from playing and is worded in a way DRNM/Imperm won't out it while invalidating strategies such as pendulum with a single activation - Riseheart is pure RNG hitting one offs to cripple strategies even more luck based compared to Ogre - Diablosis (kash were designed for it) is both Unicorn and Riseheart on crack While Birth is busted and in my opinion the backbone of the deck, the banish there is strategic. On the other hand Ariseheart was a great payoff that played into literally everything due to the mandatory activation. I disliked how he gatekept every rogue deck exactly like Colossus in the past, but this type of GY/banishment manipulation was a very interesting design. Personally in order to keep Ariseheart I would have banned Birth and limited Unicorn, with no other hits while Prosp was at 3 and Terra at 1. Kash wasn't Tier 0 but undoubtedly the best deck of its format, with full power SHS being completely countered by them that would have otherwise dominated that format. About DuNe and AgOv the only thing I have to say is they tripled our player attendance in locals to the point of registering a day before (for locals) compared to Tear 0 (that reduced the number of players after the post covid hype), then FIRE meta dropped us to lower than pre-covid era reminding me of "Year of Firewall" during which hitting 16 players was considered a miracle. ROTA has surprisingly made a positive impact increasing the players but we have to wait and see

When ryzeal hits tcg, we won't have this split. We will have ryzeal going toe to toe with azamina while yubel and tenpai compete with other lesser decks like maliss, fire king,etc. Creating a more diverse format where 40% of the pue isn't a loner deck. I think the negativity from the west stems from the inevitability of the format coming to us. Because we are getting those cards in a few months, a lot of westerners see it as a "whats coming" so a lot of the negativity is foreshadowing of what's going to happen to them. I don't think they're mad for the OCG or OCG players, they're upset that they see what's coming, how """""oppressive"""" it is, and throw a tantrum because its an inevitability to prepare for. Usually whats good in the OCG translates pretty similarly to the TCG. The one time in recent memory where thing's didn't translate 1 to 1 from the OCG to TCG was last year when the Unchained support was released. People loved that format a lot and I think a big part of it success was it being a surprise to a lot of people and created a fresh environment that players didn't expect. Yugioh in the west is often full of doom and gloom because of what reports we see in the OCG so if you see people being negative its usually because they're already being defensive of what's coming to them in a few months.

Burning "our own" house down? Konami OCG has the final say on rarity distributions, banlists and TCG exclusives. We are paying a premium for Commons and Secrets/Ultras got bumped up so even the unplayable ones are harder to find. Combine this with EVERY staple card coming as Secret since Soul Fusion (Pankratops common), and butchering all premium player-friendly products. There is no TCG side of things, we either accept this or OCG takes their game off us since they already don't care about us. Do not throw this on the players when OCG players are outraged for Maliss being expensive while costing less that an playset of Engravers or just 2 Fuwalos. The DBP formula was ruined here. It used to be an all-foil pack with great reprints and you typically made all 3 decks from a single box. Now good luck making them out of a case, while they are bumping Super reprints to make new cards even harder to find.

@@babrad While Konami of Japan ultimately gives the final approval of TCG set, their rarity distribution, and which cards are put in which set, including which cards to hit or release from the banlist, all decisions regarding which cards to import, what rarity each card should be, which set will be imported or not, and the TCG banlist are made by Konami of America. Which, FYI, are mostly ran by former Upper Deck Entertainment employees like Kevin Tewart. If you didn't know, all these problems the TCG has right now (rarity bumped cards, cards locked to only the highest rarity, etc) all started when Upper Deck Entertainment was in charge of the TCG. When UDE lost the rights to Yugioh after the 2010 lawsuit, Konami of America took in former UDE employees because it's more easier to have people who already ran the TCG to continue what they started, which then results to all the scummy shit you see in the TCG today. With regards to the banlist, Jerome McHale is pretty much the only reason why Electrumite is still banned in the TCG.
