That looked like fun. I appreciate that you listed the rod's wt as I picked up a Hardy Zane 6wt saltwater rod. This gives me a good idea as to what the rod could handle.

I have caught bigger on a 6wt. You'll be surprised how much you can push one if you need to

I've always thought this would be the exact scenario where a double handed fly rod would make the most sense in Australia : swinging a fly through a tidal current for these fish.

Definitely an option but as soon as your fly hits the water it's stripped in quickly so not sure if a double hander would be better. I don't have one but would be keen to give it a go
