I would like to add this comment.This speech should not be widely available on the internet.

It's hard for generations after Boomers to think of Germany in this way as we've all grown accustomed to German as a very faithful ally. But if you listen to the speeches, they sound an awful lot like Russia today, being attacked by "the west". There are several people who think our whole motive for the war in Ukraine is to keep Russia from becoming a strong ally with Germany. Again, as Gen X it's hard for me to ever think of Germany as a possible adversary to the US. But Biden and the CIA seem to be trying to control Germany and Russia; which may backfire. Already there are voices of "Germany for Germans" in Germany.
