RIP Malcolm Marshall,one of the world greatest fast bowler ever produced. No batsman like to face Marshall. How to get such energy in shortern run Bowling?
@templetours94 ай бұрын
The Windies had such a powerful fast bowling unit in the early to late 80s, that losing with dignity was a good option.

Today, Jan 17th, 2024, was the first day of the first test in a two test WI tour of Australia. Many predictions were not flattering, and test cricket is ailing for many nations. But let’s hope it isn’t the end and carries on, and somehow, the WI s can be great again.

Used to listen the running commentary of this series on ABC short wave transmission in Pakistan ۔ fond memories really ۔never ever thought that I would be able to see the recording of this series one day ۔ btw I was supporting Aussies for reasons I don't still know ۔fell in love with Hogg and others without even seeing em😅

The only unfortunate thing with highlight reels is that they don’t show how many times the Oz batsmen were also beaten for pace and movement. It was always just pure survival.

Very few commenters have noticed that this footage has ABC radio commentary. No channel 9 coverage available? Perhaps Rob Moody may know why. I could recognize Jim Maxwell on the commentary.
@michaeljones24142 жыл бұрын
It’s ABC TV coverage as well. Note the camera films the action from only one end. This coverage would have gone out to regional viewers with no access to the Nine coverage.
@andrewruss276411 ай бұрын
In those days the ABC had the rights to telecast test cricket in Regional Australia. The odis were broadcast on channel 9 through regional stations such as GMV 6 in shepparton. The boxing day test of 1991/92 was the last test broadcast by ABC TV as aggregation started on the 1st of January 1992

@28:02 - Young Steve Waugh's 90 in Aus second innings was truly gem of an innings, easily the best batting in this match. He really took the battle to the great West Indian fast bowlers. He played freely and fearlessly. The square cut off Ambrose @28:30 and the hook off Marshall @30:52 were truly phenomenal. He played several brilliant shots - many of which could not go to the boundary because of the very slow outfield. The flicked boundary off Ambrose yorker @29:18 and the square cut boundaries off Marshall @29:40 and Walsh @31:34 were great shots too.
