The sneaky way he says, “Joe couldn’t make it tonight,” was always funny just because he says it in such a way like “don’t ask me questions. We are who you’ll be dealing with today.” Lol 😂

Love when Mr. Wint is applying his perfume with an atomizer. All the old gay stereotypes, like "Men on Film" in the early 1990s TV show "In Living Color." However, Bond movies back in the Sean Connery and Roger Moore always had cutting edge technology: scuba in "Thunderball," space rockets in "You only Live Twice," hang-gliders and the Space Shuttle in "Moonraker." These Bond movies also played on contemporary social developments, so the gay liberation movement with Stonewall in 1969, leads to Mr. Kidd and Mr. Wint holding hands in the 1971 "Diamonds Are Forever." The next Bond movie in 1973 ("Live and Let Die," Roger Moore's first) played up the contemporary Black liberation/Blaxploitation phenomena.

If one thinks about it, these guys came closer to killing Bond than any other henchman before or since. The only reason Bond survived this attempt was because someone was lucky enough to find the coffin and stop the cremation from happening.

Clearly they were eliminating whoever was handling the goods. I had no idea why when I first saw the film and still don’t. Presumably the diamonds or whatever weren’t in the box that was loaded into the helicopter. The events themselves were entertaining enough to not care about the plot, if there was one, as was perhaps intended.

Bruce Glover does do a fantastic imitation of Peter Lorre, that's exactly how Lorre would say those lines. Creepy and with the odd but telling inflections.

An implication that they were a gay couple . Mr Kidd says " attractive for a lady " in other words I do not like ladies and Mr. Wint looks at him in a slight jealous way .
