Thanks. It has been some 3 years since I stripped a Kimber, and your video was helpful. By the way, I tried Wolf ammo a couple of times and found it to be 'nasty' and also got misfires. They coated the round with lacquer for one thing, and the quality of the powder left the gun really dirty.

The owner's manual tell you to dry fire it only (never ease the hammer down) and to ease the side with an empty chamber (do not let it fly). FYI

Just got a Kimber Pro Carry 2 in September 2013 as a birthday gift. I love the gift and appreciate it to the max. I have only two issues I find to be a 'fault'. When the casings are ejected, some come up, straight back, and n that hot case lands on ya'r face. Also, the finish on this gun scratches n wears too easily on both the slide and receiver.

@mitsufq360 with colt your only paying for the name. not that its a bad gun, I just think unless your looking to collect colt guns spend yourmoney wisely. I think rugers new 1911 looks good to, I have been looking at this kimber, the ruger and springfield armory. cant make up my mind yet.

That very drumset is sitting in a guitar shop in Cartersville GA where I take bass lessons!

i have heard that this gun is a hit and miss, a lot of failures to feed problems and the slide locking back with round still in the magazine. Can anyone add any thoughts to that? i have been looking at buying this for my cpl in the near future but i am now hesitant until i get more info on this pistol

@volksjager8 It originally comes with 1-7 round mag, but I've bought the kimber 8 round mags. Any regular government 1911 mag should work.

so can you use the standard 7 round mags in the 8 round Pro model? Because I have an old springfield 1911 and quite a few mags that I would like to use to save some money.

This kimber has a firing pin stop. It is deactivated when you depress the grip safety. If you press the grip safety when taking off the slide the slide will hang up on the frame

@14thovi The 1911 is a military firearm, you can do anything short of hitting it with a hammer, and not break it. Military weapons are designed to be dry fired, have the slide fall on an empty chamber. Before you ever get to fire a live round in the military, you spend days field stripping and dry firing your weapon to get used to how the weapon operates. Just my 2 cents. No offense to you.

Just a thought try not to drop the slide on a empty 1911 or any pistol for that matter. Other than that great video and a great 1911. I have had the same model for a couple of years now.

I'm fairly certain it doesn't notch into the slide on the other side, just look guns with the ambi safety and they don't have the notch on the right side of the gun for the lefty's

For the record, Will had a mean cold that weekend. Actually, it lasted for about a month, so he couldn't sing to his full potential. I know this, he told me after the show :) I had a cold too, which sucked because I couldn't sing along very well. Anyway. I love Cartel, sick or not! You should see them again, definitely.
