Hi David. Thanks for dropping in. I still like the Eclipse. It's a no-nonsense CP helo with a unique look. Lots of power, uses common 3S 2200 batteries and cool lighting. Maybe not the ideal fit for me, as I'm really enjoying the no-sweat RC Era models. What kind of flying do you like to do? A 3D pilot would get more out of the Eclipse than I do. For me, a decked out scale Huey checks all the boxes. I've added LEDs to my Eachine E190 and it's a gem.

@RARenfield Thank you for the information. I like the looks of the Eclipse. Like yourself, I just want a kickback flight. I currently have the blade 150s, but it's harder to see as I get older. I'm not into 3d.

@@davidelardo1160 Sounds like we have similar tastes that way. I've been thrilled with the RC Era offerings. Scale looks, scale flight, no drama, good prices. Their C189 (MD 500) is a real gem. Flight times typically 12 minutes. Eachine E190 (Huey) is also great fun for a little bit more $$.

I'm curious to see what XK has learned in the years since the 124 came out. Scale looks good on this Blackhawk. If it is still as fragile, I'll be sorely disappointed. Both my XKs sit since RC Era hit the scene. These RC Era helos are tough and good looking. People like to dump on the proprietary batteries. I watched Essential RC struggle needlessly for way too long trying to use the regular battery on his demo of this model. 😆 Mine is coming from Alibooboo.

I just wanted to take in the sights and sounds of the Huey in the cove. Now with the scale-ish lighting, this Huey checks all the right boxes for me. In a sense, this is the fulfillment of a dream from childhood. And the sunset wasn't too shabby either. Peaceful and satisfying on so many levels. Breath deeply and feel the silence...🕊

@@gregmcclure2640 mine only gets about 5 minutes. Going to try it again tomorrow. I think I never landed the darn thing myself, always flew it until it lost power 😂

@ That might be the key. I think the battery's power management might not be very accurate. Occasionally mine indicated that the battery is fully charged, yet only get a few minutes flight. I go and recharge it again, and get 10-12 minutes flight time. Also, as you probably know, depleting lipos too much will shorten their life and output. Again, if the indicators are inaccurate, you might be fighting it in that way. My Losi Promoto rc dirt bike acts the same. Maybe that would help you. Have fun!

@ Very likely. Battery chemistry is a mystery. The little Bell 206 seems to be LiPo HV.

Hi Greg. Surface tension gets me a lot. Mostly because I don't like fighting the wind. If it gets too annoying, I make a wake first for myself. Works a treat. This cove faces West. Source of the prevailing winds. If there's anything floating out there, it usually ends up at my dock. Bottles, cans, bait buckets, fish lures, empty fast food rappers, bodies. You name it. But, yes I have a kayak. And a fly fishing rod. One evening I crashed this very model. Too late for a rescue, too far out to snatch and no winds at all. It had washed ashore beside the dock by the next morning. I've also been known to use a different model (pusher prop) to rescue a non responsive bird. Cheers!

@gregmcclure2640 I did coat my UMX floats with Foam Armour, especially to protect them on snow/ice, it does make them more slippery and harder. But on the one occasion I flew off water it dissolved a bit, probably because it's water based. It's still on there just that it got a bit mushy when wet.

Good morning. The RC Era helos work well with one of the built-in protocols on my Zorro. It is an amazing transmitter and a fantastic value. Like an R/C TX Swiss Army Knife with perfect ergonomics. Made my NX10 look and feel clunky and fat. For 1/5th the price! The buddy who talked me into trying it (@b4566bb) uses a TX16 for all of his models. He is currently switching over to it with his new Helos. Mr. B is a great guy and can probably give you a lot more details. Compared to the TX16 I prefer the way the Zorro fits me, not the other way around. Also the screen is on top, not under your strap. Brilliant. 😉 Lots of good info on YT for programming them. I got it done, but I couldn't tell you exactly how. 😊 It's been almost 20 years since I started using my Trex 450 to do aerial commercial photography. Before quad copters were even a thing, and before the FAA demanded a piece of the action. These little guys are all fun and no stress. Good luck, blue skies and thanks for popping in!

@RARenfield I appreciate it. Is your Zorro the 4 in 1 or just ELRS? I was going to rebuild my 450 and get it back up right about the time the FAA decided to play games so I scrapped the idea. I deal with them enough professionally, I don't don't them involved in my recreation too. Then these sub 250g little birds came along and re-sparked my interest and I've always had an affinity for the MD's and have wanted one for a long time.

@@RARenfield I don't have a KZbin channel yet. My wife suggests that I should, so maybe I should. I use my 3D printer a lot, for my model railroad, and RC stuff. I also printed a Ma Deuce and crew member for my Osprey. Creality Ender 3 Pro is a good, basic machine. If you don't have one, consider it! They are great!
