I have the hardwired version and I love it. I installed it (recessed with only about 1/2 inch protruding out the wall) on the same wall as the control center and roughly 8 inches above the floor so you can easily see the power status without having to open the app or go outside. On more than one occasion we've had the EPO feature shutdown the rig's electrical system due to either under voltage or over voltage so it definitely does its job. The one correction... well... rather solution to being able to test the campground's power using the hardwired unit is to turn off the main 30A or 50A circuit breaker INSIDE YOUR RV then turn on the campground's main breaker. The app will tell you what you're dealing with in detail, or just the white illuminated "Bully" face will tell you the power is good before passing the power on to your rig's electrical system by turning on your main breaker.

That is a great tip to be sure no bad power makes it's way into the RV.

I got a question I’ve got the same generator and I’m pulling it out of my fifth wheel to put it in my work truck. I pulled out an old Cummins out of my work truck and it only had one gas line on the 5500 it appears to be hooked up by both propane and gas can I just plug the propane line going into the generator or is that even a propane line to begin with
@RadarRoadWarriors8 күн бұрын
The Onan 5500 gas generator has one fuel supply line and a return line to the tank. Onan didn't make a dual fuel (gas & propane) generator that I know of.

You cannot put a fridge on its side.
@RandallW209 күн бұрын
You can, but it must remain upright for 24hrs before turning back on.
@RadarRoadWarriors9 күн бұрын
Yes, you can put a fridge on its side, face, or even upside down. If you look up burping an RV fridge, you will see that is something that people have done with a fridge that has a plugged cooling unit (it doesn't always work and is not a true fix). Also if you look in the manual for replacing a cooling unit, the instructions state to lay the fridge flat for the repair, then to put the fridge upright and plug it in to test. They don't specify any amount of time to leave it upright before use. Manual: documents.dometic.com/media/download/103168?templateId=0&previewPdf=1 Note: this fridge was put upright for over an hour to ensure that all of the fluid went back to the bottom before turning it on.

My question is if I run my fan on low full-time, will it not cause my electric bill to skyrocket?😮

It would depend on your definition of skyrocket. A fan uses 3 amps when running. If you put the amp draw into an energy calculator along with your electricity rate you will know how much it would cost.

I am purchasing a new RV that already has a hardwired surge protector installed. I would like to get a portable one as well. Is there any issue with having a portable SP at the pedestal when you already have a hardwired one in the RV?
@RadarRoadWarriors11 күн бұрын
There are no issues with using a portable along with the hardwired. People will do that as a sacrificial surge protector that will take the hit if there is a major issue. Plus, they can quickly see the lights and know if the pedestal has an issue.

@@ltjhaupt, there is a lot of confusion on the internet about plugging a 30-amp RV into a 50-amp outlet. As an RV tech, I would not recommend doing so. You can overload the 30-amp cord and cause issues with the RV. It is best to keep a 30-amp RV on a 30-amp outlet.
