A couple did a viewing on a property I was letting. I had a Polish friend who helped me. My friend got me to one side and said he asked them why they are leaving their present place. They told him in Polish thinking he was a mate. They had told their landlord they couldn’t have all the rent as the lady cut her work hours back. The landlord ended their tenancy. They thought it was wrong to demand the full rent still.

Sad thing is this is actually illegal and these guys could get in trouble for criminal damage. Now they definitely won't get paid. Would probably have been better taking her to court although that doesn't always work out.

Of coarse, you are only hearing one side of the story.🤔

I have to agree with the builders, they did the job and it looks like they did a good standard of work, so they deserve to be paid.

Don't blame them. Some people expect everything for free.

I wonder why they didn’t pay… I know that we had decking done a few years ago and we agreed a price before work commenced, when the work was nearly completed, they asked for (and we paid) an additional £1500. I often wonder if this is why some people don’t pay.

That's why yiu should get payed in stages , block paving done get payed, fence done get payed etc never allow a contract that stipulates total payment at end , always get the money after you complete an aspect of the full project Women without husbands in general are the ones who scam people from my experience , they want a nice house for themselves and their children but its another man who has to pay for it

Ridiculous, you take half the money up front then when you are three quarters way through the job you take another payment and if this isn't happening you don't do the job in the first place,you text all this to them at the start and you both have a record of the agreement.

Everyone goes on about builders from Hell, but the truth is they should make a program of Customers from Hell.. there’s too many stories of builders not getting paid, making any excuse not to pay. Well done guys don’t blame you 👏

Looks like a $7k job to me, what a loser not paying.

Take then to court for the owed payment and put a contractors lien on their house. The lien on the house will get them to pay you real quick. Always make them sign a contract where you’re protected if they withhold payment, then you can pursue it in court or put that lien on their property.

To anyone interested in the context here. The builder originally quoted £2900, asked for half up front as a deposit. Finished the work then raised the price to £7400. There were no changes requested by the client, no amendments to the materials etc. just pure greed by the ‘builder’. He was arrested shortly after this clip ends, found guilty in court of criminal damage and ordered to redo the entire garden at his own cost.
