Heard this song for the first time in a grimy, dingy - authentic-as-could-be - vermont jam circle last fall. Honestly it was an exorbitantly profound moment, one I hold very dear. I was happy to be able to hold my own but man I was barely hanging on, particularly on any solo parts they'd throw in. So thanks for the backing track, now I can practice for the next time I'm on the farm!

I'm mostly a jazz guitar guy who's dabbled in bluegrass over the years and recently learning mandolin. On this tune, I get to use some of my jazz sensibilities. Like on that bridge, I'm treating those Gmaj7s to Dmaj/Bm pentatonic all day. Or I'll go fully chromatic G major by way of the Barry Harris chromatic method. The A part, I tend to stay pretty folksy and just play G C C G major pentatonics. I love the sound of these changes.

Let it rain, let it pour, let it rain a whole lot more 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let the rain drive right on, let the waves sweep along 'Cause I got them deep river blues My old gal's a good old pal, and she looks like a water fowl When I get them deep river blues Ain't no one to cry for me, and the fish all go out on a spree When I get them deep river blues Give me back my old boat, I'm gonna sail if she'll float 'Cause I got them deep river blues I'm goin' back to Muscle Shoals, times are better there I'm told 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let it rain, let it pour, let it rain a whole lot more 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let the rain drive right on, let the waves sweep along 'Cause I got them deep river blues If my boat sinks with me, I'll go down, don't you see 'Cause I got them deep river blues Now I'm gonna say goodbye, and if I sink, just let me die 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let it rain, let it pour, let it rain a whole lot more 'Cause I got them deep river blues Let the rain drive right on, let the waves sweep along 'Cause I got them deep river blues

These are great! Thanks for sharing. I'm mostly a jazz guitar guy who's dabbled in bluegrass guitar over the years and I've recently been dabbling in bluegrass/jazz mandolin. I'm noticing that the corresponding 8-tone jazz scales work nicely over this! G Major: G A B C D D# E F#, C Major: C D E F G G# A B, and D7: D E F# G A B C C#. So the majors have added b6th/#5th and the dominant has an added major 7th. If you start on a chord tone on the beat, you'll STAY on chord tones on the beat, wherever you pivot!

Ok . I just got to say it because nobody else is ...This song IS NOT in G Like the thumbnail says .... it's in D ....😅 So if some of you newbies are confused....it's for a good reason ... its in D as in Dog .... The same key that most people play it in .. That said: Thank you to whoever's posting these backing tracks ... thumbs up everyone

The backing track is great but the tempo is wrong. the 80 you counted is every other beat. The tempo is quarter note equals around 160
@bbtbluegrassbackingtracks
@bbtbluegrassbackingtracks 28 күн бұрын
Hi Jeremy. You are correct as shown in these charts. But in bluegrass the predominate way to count time is in ''cut time' which comes out to tempos half of say a rock song. Cut time should be shown in 2 beat per measure format but unfortunately my chord chart software only displays in regular time (4 beats per measure) so I get the confusion. Thank you for this - sites like yours will keep the genre alive and progressing. Back when I struggled to break into windsurfing, I was so frustrated by the endemic "close to the vest" jealous hoarding of knowledge, I blew up at one guy "Thanks to people like you, this sport will die." (It may not be dead yet, but it's close.) Your site is the exact opposite.

Thank you for that. I created this site solely for sharing with fellow likeminded pickers. It always makes my day to hear from others who are benefiting and enjoying these tracks. Thank you for this. "Man's reach should exceed his grasp" or something! Abandoned bluegrass mandolin in my 20's due to lack of resources, trying again 40 years later, and people like you on KZbin are a Godsend - currently I aspire to 135 but am only consistently clean at 100-110 (without even considering improvising a solo yet). This is an invaluable tool.
