I just died. When she went into her whistle register it was pure Heaven.

If she belted that E6 in “The Wizard and I”during her Last Performance of Wicked on 12/31/06, the audience will go bananas!!!!

How about we don't compare Elphabas and just be amazed by how each one carried on the legacy of the character beautifully, adding their own touch to Elphaba. Every one will have their own favorite one and that's the beautiful thing about Broadway.

Wonderful E6!

I've seen several versions of this, and while Idina will always be my #1 Elphaba, Shoshanna and Teal Wicks round out my top 3. Shoshanna just has this soulful voice that fits perfectly in the role of Elphaba.

She's a great elphaba but not the best. Her riff at the end would get severely criticized if she ever performed that while she played that role; it's a little too much. Hands down best Elphaba is Lindsay Mendez.
@nathantyson779 жыл бұрын
Lindsay Mendez??? Really? Just listen to the one song and you can hear the clear order of elphabas. The is THE elphaba song. It foreshadows what will happen. The line up is clearly 1. Shoshana 2. Idina (out of respect. shes the original) 3. Stephanie J. Block Simple as that. You can add whoever you want after
@anastaciaclarke72369 жыл бұрын
She never ever did that riff on Broadway... She barely did any crazy riffs like that because she isn't allowed to. When she's performing this song on her own she can do whatever she wants. So ya...

+Nathan Tyson What about Jemma Rix ? She's the longest Elphaba in the industry :o 10 years
@elphbwckd2129 жыл бұрын
+Erick Mach Just because she's had the longest run doesn't make her the best... Jemma is amazing but she doesn't have the perfect vocals of shoshana.
@syworld828 жыл бұрын
FALSE... I saw Shoshana on Broadway 3 times.. She did that riff in various levels at all 3 performances... The 3rd time she actually did a whistle tune note while flying in Defying Gravity... Her range was amazing.. Shoshana DEFINED making the role your own.. SHE WAS and always will be .. THE ONLY PERSON that knows what it feels like to Step into a Tony Award Winning role and having to veer away from that and do it your own way...

Honestly, I think people who say Idina is their favorite Elphaba probably haven't heard very many other Elphaba's. She's far from the best.
@moochiwuvschachi8 жыл бұрын
+roundandround14 my fav elphaba is Idina and I have listened to other ones. Because for me it's more about the voice. Idina is a great performer. I think shoshana sounds great but is she really an Elphaba? I also think Eden is phenomenal. Kerry Ellis is great but her expressionless delivery of defying gravity really makes me bored and upset. It's just my opinion though and I respect people who have a different favorite, but people who bash Idina tick me off.
