Great intro, I noticed a new addition on the roof, did you get rid of the Axis Kayak?
@stephencordell5155Ай бұрын
Yeah mate found the Axis a bit limiting as it can be hard to get in and out of and you have to lift on to the roof and store it when not in use. The 300X can do rapids, flat water and when your finished with it you fold it up and put it on a shelf

Have you done a camping trip in your Axis yet? I'm considering getting one, and interested to know how you got on!
@dirtbikeadvАй бұрын
Hi Clare, Yes I have done a couple camping trips in the Axis now and it works really good. The trip I am talking about in the video I did and only went a third of the way the water was way too low. I didn't take the wheels in the end so there was a lot of dragging the kayak in the shallows. There is not a ton of room in them so you definitely have to travel light. I stuffed the tent and sleep bag up in the bow and the rest of my gear under the hatch. Looks like a lot of room but it does get a bit tight. Some observations from a beginner, they are a bit of a handful in the rapids a little slow to turn and cumbersome. If you are planning doing a lot of rapids maybe consider the Dagger Katana which has a bit more rocker. Secondly they are a bit difficult to get in and out of it you don't have a shallow bank to pull up to. Thirdly I would consider this model much closer to a touring kayak than a crossover as they are quite quick across the water so you can cover a lot of ground pretty quickly. If your thinking of purchasing one always consider your own weight. I am a 100kg bloke so if you are a lot lighter you can go for a smaller kayak. It's the same for motorbikes start with what you weigh. Hope this helps Regards Steve :)
@ClareGilliamАй бұрын
@@dirtbikeadv Thanks Steve! Really helpful. I've had a demo paddle in the Axis and it felt very "right" for me. I won't be doing a lot of rapids. I'm also happy to travel light. I've got the chance to buy one at a good price so think I'll just go for it! 😊

@@dirtbikeadv Thanks Steve! Really helpful. I'm 54kg and 5'3". And always happy to travel light! I don't think I'm that interested in doing rapids. So I think I might go for the Axis.

Hello.. Curious if you sold the Beta 480. And if so why?.. Im looking to purchase one here in Philippines and travel. Seems like the perfect lightweight dual sport.
@oafadv6 ай бұрын
Yep I have sold the Beta but for one reason only. I travel huge distances on some of my trips like 800 KMs in a day so an enduro bike is not really suitable for big KMs. I went to a two bike set up an adventure bike for the big trips and a stock enduro bike with a larger tank. My current enduro bike is a Sherco 500. Those Beta's are excellent bikes and are bullet proof they make great dual sport bikes. Thanks for watching Regards Steve

I just found your channel , really appreciate it! Do you find the PR7 is alot to handle offroad after putting in a whole day? Does the size and wheel base beat you up or benefit you? Thanks man , good stuff.
@oafadv6 ай бұрын
Hi Matt, no the bike is never a lot to handle because of the low centre of gravity with the fuel tank being so low. These bike are second only to the enduro bikes like the KTM 500 for lightness and agility. The longer wheelbase makes them more stable at speed and on open trails. (The trade off of course is a loss of agility in single trail) The suspension is very plush and never beats U up. My previous KTM 690 was the opposite but could handle race pace where as the PR7 finds its limits if U want to launch it of dozer cuts or if U really push the pace. Thanks for watching Regards Steve

So how does it stack up as an adventure platform?

Yeah best overall adventure bike in the market. It does most things very well. Not as light or agile as a 500 but far more comfortable, stable and easy to ride on long stints. The rear tyre I've just taken of was the Mitas E10 Enduro. Got about 4500 KMs on that and it gripped well in all conditions. Bit expensive though so just put on a Motoz Tractioninator Rally Z to see how they go. Had a lot of success with Dunlop 606's get about the same KMs as the Mitas but considerably cheaper but a little noisier. 4-5000 KMs seems to be a good life for a tyre that has good grip Regards Steve

@oafadv Жыл бұрын
Yeah very tough question. Yes I do prefer the AJP but that's not because it's a better bike. I prefer the AJP because it's simpler, I like the feel, riding position and is a bit more comfortable. The 690/701 is the best overall package when U set them up with a tower, comfy seat and extend the fuel range. But having owned both I prefer the AJP. The bonus is I got into this PR7 for about half the price of a similar age 690. Thanks for watching Regards Steve
