Hello, we stayed in Lauterbrunnen in an Airbnb near the Silberhorn Hotel. The train station is just a hundred or so meters from that hotel. We had a rental car and drove to the other places that were closer to Interlaken. We were there in mid September, and the weather was chilly at night and perfect during the day.

Thanks, I was hoping I did the right thing especially since everything I know about bulls comes from cartoons. They seem to snort, paw the ground and chase people around in circles, all things I definitely wanted to avoid, lol.

I took the Hamburg Trail starting at the Nature Conservancy to the the Miller Peak Wilderness sign, and then went a little ways up and stopped at the top without making any turns. There was an overlook there, but it didn't look like the one @2:37. Is there another overlook further up? Thanks for your videos. Glad to see this one has 1k views.
@karenflynnhikes
@karenflynnhikes Ай бұрын
My guess is that you stopped at a little flat area soon after the bench with the number 9 on it. The overlook is another 100-200 yards farther up the trail. There's a good-sized trail sign at the overlook with arrows pointing towards Hamburg and Brown Canyon trails. The trail doesn't get any steeper for that last 100-200 yards but to me, since I've already had to trudge up a very steep trail for a half mile, that distance seems like long, long way.🥾🥾

Thanks for the nice trip down memory lane. I grew up in SV & met John & Anna McIntyre when I was 16, in 1969. I used to ride my motorcycle thru Garden Canyon & then down to Sunnyside. I helped John & Anna with projects around the settlement. I had the privilege to be at his burial in 1986 - he and many of the pioneers are buried in Black Oak Cemetery. John & Anna’s love for Christ was a great encouragement to me - now even as I turn 70.

Thank you so much for adding this information. I am so grateful. Every so often I get lucky and get a comment from someone who knew this area when people still lived there. I have a photocopy of a book (it's more of an in depth pamphlet, only 45 pages long) called "A Place Called Sunnyside" written in 1982 by Roberta Lamma, a relative in some way to the McIntyres. She writes about Louis McIntyre, John's father, when he was the Postmaster at Parker Canyon, and later in the book she describes John McIntyre's return to Sunnyside in the 60s. Was Black Oak Cemetery near Sunnyside?

The cows parades are mostly in September. The Lauterbrunnen tourist office posts the dates 5-6 days in advance on their Facebook page. Maybe other towns do the same. It is so much fun to see!🐄

Those are not farmer's paths, those are the normal hiking trails everybody uses for hiking.
@karenflynnhikes
@karenflynnhikes Ай бұрын
Yes, you're right, some of the paths are normal hiking paths. Others, especially near farm fields and pastures, are wide enough for dual use by vehicles and walkers. One of the things I loved about Europe during my 11 years living there is how easy it is to get around by bike and foot. 💓

This reminds me of a trail my sister and I used to take back in high school. We’d follow some back-roads on Ft. Huachuca out past the old parade grounds/museum. We were stupid and we’d go without supplies, and one time we went at night thinking we’d have a nice walk, and dang near killed ourselves in the dark on that shale with the steep inclines. Ahh, youth. 🤣 But your video looks like how I remember that route to be.

@@carolmaplesden916 There are a couple places along Ramsey Canyon Rd that have spots for RVs. I think one is called Ramsey Canyon RV Park. It's a popular canyon, and I imagine they are often fully booked. If you Google "Ramsey Canyon Sierra Vista RV camping" or something like that you'll find other places, too. The first few weeks of November tend to be when the best colors are showing. In the fall you can call the Preserve directly and the person who answers the phone will be able to tell you how things are looking at that point in time. Enjoy!🍁
