Could you imagine how long it took to render all this with the computers available back then. The two minute film is akin to the wright brothers first 12-second flight - it was meant to prove that this could be something much bigger. 9 years later, Toy Story came out and showed the world CGI was the future.

I am so influenced by this intro in almost every project I made. This is what I aspire to.

Compare *INTERACTIVE* video/arcade games that were _playable_ in the same year, 1986!... the few dozen or so pixels, like in Arkanoid = much better example of computing power of the time

chick hicks from Cars have number 86 because this vid is the frist animation that they posted in 1986 and lightning mcqueen have number 95 because in 1995 they released " toy story "

I was one of the few that watched every episode from season 1 to 4 as they were released.

All these years later... this intro STILL gives me goosebumps!! It's just SO gorgeous and well done!!!

I knew Bill Moggridge as a student at the Central School of Art and Design Holborn. We and a group of fellow students met socially, he was always good company. I left the Central,gaining employment at the Hatfield Polytechnic as a lecturer. Our paths never crossed again. RIP Peter Thompson.
