The sound at the start is terrible. hold fast, it improves. Enjoyed this so much. So lame of me to allow his work to pass me by until now

A pity the sound is so bad as this is now an important document.

Could you upgrade the audio . It is low and with a bit of echo . Other wise it is exceptional .

I saw Patrick's splendid show at the Serpentine; mid '80. I had seen one or two of his before that, but it was very interesting to see an extensive collection of his output. After he passed away, I thought there might have been some sort of retrospective exhibition; but to date, I haven't noticed any. I hope somebody may organise one at some point. I feel that this kind of painting seems to have fallen out of favour in recent years. Hope I'm wrong.

I liked this lecture. Did he exposed in Brazil- Afro museum, in São Paulo ? I was born and live in this big city and while seeing this lecture came to my memory one exhibition with this African colours in decolonial issues. Cheers from São Paulo, Brazil.

Straight off the bat, brilliant. Well said Phyllida Barlow ... Finally, a great artist says out loud something I suspect we all think. I hate the word practice also, always have.

Hi Richard, it looks a lot like 'Charley's Space', 1991 - but if you look it up you will see the crop is different and treatment is considerably different. So is it the same painting? I doubt it. But, it seems to be done around the same time. Hope this helps.

I used to regret not getting into Art college in 1975 because I was allegedly not academic enough, a couple of degrees in other subjects and many years later I am still painting, but now I realise I probably didn't miss very much.

great lecture program as ever, terrible audio...Slade please get it better. Tim Hyman has for many years now been a very good tutor, helping so many students , many of whom are now names in the painting world. TH also a very interesting painter and drawer’r , and all his books are well worth reading.
