Gyp was really quick witted. Imagine the kind of pressure he felt knowing he was seconds/minutes away from getting wacked. Most would plead for their life but he was able to be smart/calculated. He knew Masseria needed a reason to keep him alive. Great delivery by Bobby. Amazing scene.

Gyp wasn't lying, no matter what happened to him... Joe wasn't a part of it, and Lucky made sure of it in the end.

In season 5 Gyp was proven right in the end. Many prefer to call him an irrational maniac, but his emotional insight was greater than any of the other bosses

I feel like this show did a slight disservice to Rosetti by making too much of a nutcase. It was moments like this that reminded that sometimes there was method to his madness.

I thought it was fascinating how the only person who scared Gyp was Masseria. Gyp was a crazy psycho who never held back, except when he was in front of masseria.

One of the best written and performed scenes in TV or Cinema. Starting in the 90's they really upped the ante in television production quality to the point it's like watching a really, really long movie and it started with the likes of The X-Files and then it swiftly moved up a few notches with HBO's The Wire and The Sopranos, but now it's evolved even further with shows like this and GoT, got to respect their craft.

Glad you mentioned The Sopranos, because Terry Winter who created Boardwalk was an important writer for The Sopranos. Glad he got his own show to demonstrate his own creativity and then getting Scorsese on board really changed the TV game.

This might be the best scene in Boardwalk Empire. I mean, how does it get better than Bobby Cannavale and Ivo Nandi as Gyp Rosetti and Joe Masseria? Brilliant writing and casting!

Since 1900, Easter has fallen on April Fool's Day only four times - 1923, 1934, 1945 and 1956. It won't happen again until 2029. Since Joe was killed in 1930 this tells us this is set in 1923. Nice touch from the writers

The details in this series is mind blowing. At the 0:57 mark, an automobile is passing outside the restaurant. The sound of the engine is definitely that of the cars of that era. Great work here.
