Shit, I think i done effed up. At the end of last yr our accountant told us desktop is soooo much better and to make sure we get quickbooks pro 24. We already had online version. Although I was fine with online, my dad (the other owner) was in agreement with getting desktop. I had a hell of a time finding it. I wound up finding it through a company called Bookybalance. Now, my license is "up" and they want me to pay to renew it. Now im doing my own research and find this video. Im being scammed aren't i?

the process worked for me but for example when I make the comparison with qb online I get different values, in an invoice in online I get 102 dollars and in desktop the same invoice I get 10200.

How can you be a CPA and say that QuickBooks online is better than QuickBooks standalone. I need a dispersement journals. QuickBooks online does not have a dispersement journal. That’s such a ridiculous statement.

Explain to me why any small business would want to have its accounting data in the cloud? Seriously. I really have come to hate quickbooks as they keep increasing the price for desktop and it STILL has bugs that they take forever to fix. If there was any reasonable way to get away from it I would. Key tip: NEVER start using it.

I am trying to convert from QB online to QB desktop. I got my file from QB online and it is a .qbxml file. I cannot make it migrate to QB desktop as I get an error message. QB desktop told me I have to have a .qbo or .qbb file. QB online can't/won't give me that type of file and referred me to a third-party to get it. The third-party wants to charge me an arm and a leg for the conversion. Any suggestions? TIA!

More people need to watch this, i've recently talked with hand full of people who leave their payees blank. When they told me that I was like, wait what? I couldn't fathom it. Good to know i'm doing it the right way.

Thank you for this video. I used your link to finally purchase the desktop version today and then proudly added my payroll. I didn't follow through on all the math though to determine that there is no bargain to be found doing this if you need payroll. With my 17 employees, I might has well just handed them the tube of lube for the additional $102/month on top of the $550 for Payroll. Online help is currently working on switching me to the Desktop Enterprise for the "Bargain price of $1922 for a year" I'll be curious to see if there are any improvements or if we still have to use the crappy 3rd party plug ins to process W2's and 1099s. That was also after I got the sales pitch for online. Apparently, they don't ready the unhappy reviews about online. If anything should have given us some warning about all of our eggs being in the internet basket, it should be the Microsoft fiasco last week and the airlines. Having used QB for over 20 years when we switched from the no BS AccPac, the evolution and price increases have been underwhelming.

Silly question: Our business has 4 employees, We used to have QB 2018 desktop and each had our own account. We switched to QBO and my boss absolutely hates it. If we were to switch back to QB Desktop using this method, do we need to purchase Desktop Premier Plus for each employee, meaning it would cost us $949/year X 4?

I am actually looking for an alternate now to QB, that seems like a ridiculously high price to pay for an annual subscription. I have been a DESKTOP user since forever - what are your thoughts? My book keeper does NOT want to go to the online version. I have read about xero and gusto for payroll....

One note, in the video you mention that Enhanced Payroll is no longer offered, but I thought it was Desktop Basic and Standard payroll. Can you confirm this?

Hey there! Thanks for this video. I have been using QB Desktop since 2000 and never had any problems with it. I simply bought the new version ever 3 years as they sunset the old versions. I migrated over to QBO about a week about and all I keep finding is more and more problems so I guess I might be one of those folks who is going to shell out the $649 for a year of the desktop verion (despite the fact it cost me $299 for the last 3 years). Below are some of the issues I've encountered in the many hours of trying to use QBO this past week. 1. Truly Custom Templates are gone: The desktop version allowed me to completely customize the invoice layout and add more columns to invoices for info that I need to provide to my customers. This is not possible in QBO and as a result, all my old invoices that migrated over have lost the data that was there. I assumed everything would transfer just fine and work as it had been but that was wishful thinking. 2. Super slow to work with: I have just upgraded my computer a month ago. It has a lot of RAM and is running very fast, on a wired cable internet connection. I tried working with QBO on Firefox first, then the desktop app, and later Chrome. They are all slow. Creating an invoice takes me so much longer now because of QBO being cloud based and every time I hit the tab key to move to a new field, it can take a few seconds and sometimes 10 seconds or more. So much so, that this alone is a deal breaker for me. 3. PDF showing different order than entered: I just spent hours (due to the QBO lag in response time) entering data (about 215 line items because there are no longer custom columns available) into an invoice and when I went to check the invoice as a PDF, some of the lines have been moved into a different order than how I entered them. I looked this up on the QB forums and there's 130 comments under one users post, going back 4 years of people discussing the same problem. If you are a freelancer who creates invoices with only a few description lines per invoice, then maybe QBO will work for you. However, if you need to create invoices which have many line items that need to be entered per week, this is definitely not the way. 4. Poor UI compared to desktop: The user interface is confusing compared to the desktop version which seems like it was designed for business owners, whereas QBO seems to be targeted at professional bookkeepers or CPA's who are working remotely and need quick access to a clients file. Obviously they must have gotten a lot of complaints about this, so they created the QBO desktop app which is basically allows the user to turn on a 'desktop view' screen that resembles what is found as the home screen on the desktop version. It makes navigation a bit easier if you are coming from desktop, but that's where the similarities end. The only thing that seems to have worked OK for me so far is creating sales receipts for 3-4 customers and charging their credit cards (which seems less intuitive than desktop version). Above are only some of the issues I've encountered so far and I'm baffled how can anyone possibly recommend QBO when it has so many failings? I wish more accountants and bookkeepers would start using other offerings like Oddo, Xero, Zoho or Freshbooks and transition their clients away from QB and their disappointing product and ever inflating prices..

Are you able to import your data INTO QBO from QB Premier version and then export OUT, back to a lower version of QBD? I am trying to downgrade my version of QB (I run the only Enterprise license) to the QBPremier so I'm more in line with my coworkers. They're constantly asking for reports from my clients files because they can't access it with their version. I have several companies I would love to be able to do this for and was wondering the most cost effective way of doing it.

A Quickbooks rep from Intuit contacted me and is trying to switch me over to QB Enterprise Silver. I'm currently using QB Desktop Mac 2021. I tried switching to QB Online 2 years ago and it was a nightmare. Fortunately, they let me switch back. The rep was extremely vague about QB Enterprise when I told her no to QBOnline. I'm a small business ... do you know the difference between QBOnline and QB Enterprise? They both are expensive.
