@@gewglesux Yeah, it is definitely an amazing scale rig. I have made a lot of modifications, but the most important have been a Hot Racing Aluminum chassis plate, motor heat sink and fan, Traxxas steel front driveshaft, and an aluminum rear axle I found on Amazon. The rear driveshaft had clearance issues when it came to fitting the rear diff. I just had to carefully dremel out some material and it was good to go. The stock plastic axle got way too hot on 6s in my opinion and had to go. The rear axle stays nice and cool on 6s now that it is made out of aluminum😁.

@@beyondthebluerc1 have you ever hear of Vitavon? they're supposed to be a good company for add-ons and such.

@ Yes, I have heard of Vitavon and they make quality upgrades. However, they are pricey and I found this aluminum axle on Amazon that was half the price of a Vitavon aluminum axle so I went with the off brand one. It was definitely a gamble, but it payed off in the end. They come in black, orange, red, blue or silver. They aren’t functioning disc brakes. They just look like the real thing to add to the scale look to the car. The aluminum rotors/wheel hexes are a lot more durable than the stock plastic ones especially if you go with a brushless system.

@@Brandon11-_-11 Yes, upgrades are fun but they do add up monetarily after a while. Including the initial cost of the rig I probably have 400-450 dollars into mine😁.

It definitely has a few quality control issues and probably should be priced at $199.00. It’s sold out now and I imagine they will be going for a lot more than 300 on eBay😩.

It definitely helps with cooling and allows a bit more space to install a cooling fan and heat sink on the motor. It’s a good investment in my opinion.

Thanks👍 Yeah, the area wasn’t long enough for me to get it up to 60mph. It can definitely exceed 100mph with a larger pinion gear. I haven’t geared it up yet though, since I have been happy with the stock set up so far.

@@beyondthebluerc1 I have the same problem with my slash. I've yet to see top speed and have no idea how fast it is. 272R trans, 21 pinion and 83 spur. It's a 3s spektrum esc. It's fast just no clue how fast it can go 🤣

@@goldenserenity2385 Thanks, I definitely agree that Bradford Exchange is overpriced for what you get. Also, the pictures online for the Ecto-1 when I purchased mine looked like a die cast model. Of course, it is actually probably molded out of clay or resin, which looks decent enough. I do like this model and the lights and sound are a nice addition. However, I wouldn’t recommend it, since it is way too expensive for what you get and quality control on my model wasn’t great.

@@JulianStyles-w7c Yeah, I’ve had issues with Traxxas servos in other rigs over the years. Some are still going strong and some died way too early. The servos in my E-Revo 2.0 only lasted a few months and I replaced them with Savox servos. The servo in my mini E-Revo VXL didn’t last long either and was replaced with a Savox servo as well. The throttle and steering servo in my Nitro Slayer went bad fairly quickly too. However, the stock steering servos in my Maxx, Rustler 4x4, 4tec, TRX4 Blazer, UDR and TRX4 M Chevy K10 are still going strong. It feels like the flip of a coin when it comes to getting a good servo or bad servo in a Traxxas rig.

That’s about the limit of it on the asphalt in this location. Any more throttle in the corners and it will just roll over. I’m really just testing out the new aluminum axle I just installed. Next stop…some trails🤪.

@@BLEED.THEBLUE Not much dirt gets in and it definitely helps with cooling. My motor stays nice and cool with the cooling fan and aluminum skid plate combination. My rear axle stays nice and cool too, since upgraded it to aluminum as well.

Yes, the time circuits light up. It's definitely disappointing they didn't paint the rear tail lights red. I am thinking of painting them myself, but I would probably have to remove the large rear vents to get the job done right.

What’s on BigBadToy store’s website now is the second batch of preorders. It is basically a reissue of the Kidslogic version that came out about five years ago. I hesitated to get that one and regretted it, so when this one popped up for preorder I didn’t hesitate to purchase it this time😁.

Yeah, you are right about that now that I think about it. I should probably try that. I have always landed helis this way. Change is hard I suppose 🤪.

@@veedubin187 Mine does take a while too. I think it’s a safety feature programmed into the flybarless control unit. I compensate for this by throttling up a bit faster than I initially did on my first few flights with this heli.

I'm not sure if that's necessarily the case, but these older electric RC helicopters are a lot louder then my newer Blade 360 CFX and Blade Fusion 360. This Blade 4503d is about 15 years old. The newer RC helis have a much quieter drivetrain and the tail belt noise is much more subdued. Thanks for your service. I spent 6 years in the Air Force as a Jet Engine Mechanic. I worked back shop on the TF39(old C-5 Engines).

Thanks, after watching this video back as I was uploading it I was thinking I might need to soften the rear suspension a bit. I'm going to run it on 6s next time and see if the extra power sinks the rear end more. The rig was quite underwhelming on 4s.

Not exactly, I have a phone mount on the bottom of my transmitter, which works great for recording regular videos. To record a short I turn the transmitter on its side. Steering is a little tricky, since the wheel is facing the ground. It’s totally manageable though😁.

Why not use some red taillight tape? It's translucent, and made for this very reason, just larger. That way it's not permanent. You can get it at auto stores, and Walmart.

I didn't install a metal spur gear. You really don't have too, however I did swap out the plastic motor mount for a Hot Racing aluminum motor mount. That was one of the first upgrades I did and helps a lot with cooling. If you go brushless I would recommend fans for the motor and ESC.

I installed the light kit after I had already built the model. I have the Lego UCS X-Wing and the Light my Bricks light kit for that model as well. I haven't built the X-Wing yet, but I am thinking of installing the light kit as I build this time.
