I am one of those seniors, at 59 I am invisible. Society does not see me as a threat or a value. I have time to be introspective. I now realized I spent a lifetime believing people thought more of me, how arrogant I know. I cannot turn back the hands of time nor would I if I could. I like me. Through study. Through meditation I know the importance of really seeing others in that moment….anyone …..anywhere. I will sit with you. I will “see” you. It’s a moment, it holds value but it is a moment

You got a mom? Does she have an IRA? She’s invested in the companies that you don’t want to make any money. People can’t retire without companies doing well. Your mom would be broke living in your house if you got your way. Do you have a 401k? I’m asking all of these questions with love for the record.

You’re now seeing the fault of the system my friend. If we had universal basic income, Universal health care at the cost of businesses not having the massive wealth some do, we wouldn’t need IRAs

What is the fair share… specifically? What is the specific dollar amount where someone has “too much money?” What percentage of your income do you donate to charity? Do you follow the tax laws of the United States of America? If you had $36 trillion dollars do you think you could fix some of the problems we have a as a country? I would support an unlimited tax credit for money donated to charity. Would you? What billionaire invented the technology that allows you to record this video and post it?
@BradleyMarcusis
@BradleyMarcusis 10 күн бұрын
I appreciate your questions and hope that this video starts a healthy conversation. Do you think a certain amount of money is too much? Or can be unlimited? If someone was handicapped would you help support them? If you had so much money that you couldn’t spend it all in a life time is that too much or too little money? Do you think Americans are able to achieve today what our founding fathers set out for us to achieve? How does one become a billionaire? Is it done by simply making a better product or service? At what point is does a business owner start exploiting workers? Has the minimum wage increased with productivity over the last 80 years?

Thank you for addressing this as it seems to be quite a challenging era we are experiencing. The rhetoric. The gas lighting. The hate, bigotry, racism and misogyny. There seems to be no escaping the assault on compassion, humanity and empathy. I want to just stay in my home but I believe evil happens when good people do nothing. I came out of retirement, work a few days a week at a flower shop and genuinely try to be a safe zone. Buddhism is a new path. I am encouraged by your insights and meditation has been a constant for me the past two years. I am eager to listen and hopefully gain much much more.

As a novice at meditation, I have been finding some beneficial YT videos. Some resonate while others may not as much, but they probably have a lot to do with where I am at myself. But I did find this video beneficial as I followed the meditation with some good insight for my journey, The only funky thing just a little bit was seeing him just relaxing on the couch while giving instructions. However, the instruction when not looking at the instructor was nice. New fan of his channel for sure.

Wow…lots to absorb. I struggle with impermanence as I understand but feel that impermanence leaves a permanent presence. As in, the waves ebb and wane and although gentle not obvious it does alter the reality. Gosh, I wish I could explain this better. I accept that my choices of how I interact in this lifetime will alter not just those around me but those who will come after me too, I am guided by lifetimes before me. Ugh🤦🏼‍♀️ oh my…I’ll keep listening because I am doing my best to be better
@BradleyMarcusis
@BradleyMarcusis 16 күн бұрын
This is incredibly insightful thank you for this comment Deborah. Depending on what it is that changes and what it means to us will depend on how “permanent” that change feels. For example a missed breakfast date with a friend vs losing a loved one. One might feel more “permanent” than the other. But this is what is part of life, these changes. It wouldn’t make sense for it to never change. It wouldn’t be natural in this reality. Only the impermanence is permanent. The acceptance of this may be difficult at times but with practice it becomes easier. Still hold space for emotions but do not cling to them, this includes feelings of grief, sadness, etc. This impermanence is unavoidable so if we don’t accept it, it won’t change anything because it is just the way it is. It is easier to go with the ever powerful current than to fight against it. I hope this helps. May you be well. 🙏

Being enlightened doesnt mean you dont suffer
@JustinSimard-v8j
@JustinSimard-v8j 2 ай бұрын
Am I wrong about this ? I feel like if you were enlightened youd still feel pain but not suffering would you ? The way I see it suffering comes from an unfulfilled desire like the desire to be loved by others causes you to be anxious in social situations, which is suffering. So if you extinguished desire (became enlightened) you would not feel this. You would however still feel physical pain right ?

I recommnded everyone should read "you are not buddhist" By dzongsar rinpoche in his book he explained that if you believe that nirvana or enlightenment can be explained by words you are not buddhist or real buddha's follower. Enlightenment is beyond words or explaination. Enlightment is not simple like it seems According to tibetan buddhism which i believe in says that we should aim to collect merits (cause) by good deeds. If we collect enough merits than it helps us in journey of enlightenment. Its not nessasary that we can get enlightenment in this lifetime. But it can takes many many lifetimes until we got enlightened. As long as we seek even little pleasure in samsara we are bound by samsara. We cant be free and will born again and again in this samsara. I know my english in bad.
