IMPORTANT NOTE: In multiple point of this tutorial I refer to the /dev directory/partition in the Filesystem Hierarchy as "development" and that is incorrect. The /dev directory contains device files that control access to peripheral devices (keyboard, mouse, scanner, microphone, webcam). These files are also known as device special files or device nodes. The /dev directory does NOT hold development data nor does it hold device drivers. It just holds device files that control access to adjacent or peripheral devices.

Early in this video tutorial you say in passing that UNIX is a language. UNIX is NOT a computer language, simply put, it is a type of operating system (OS) with a particular design philosophy as well as a family of such OSs, hailing from Unics, inspired by Multics, renamed Unix and later re-styled UNIX and copyrighted and trademarked. I have no doubt you know this. Though UNIX is not a computer language per se, it is associated with specific computer languages, such as Fortran at its inception on a GE 635, very soon rewritten in a dialect of assembly language, specifically that of the PDP-7, which had its own set of mnemonics and syntax tailored to the PDP-7’s instruction set and was later rewritten in the PDP-11 Assembly Language, which in turn was subsequently rewritten in C, which has come to define it and initially solely programmed its kernel (and later coupled with a smattering of Rust), and over the years, a raft of shell dialects, for both shell scripting purposes and as an interactive interface between the kernel, operating system, its processes, utilities and programs (and later its GUI shell - which is not to be confused with the shell of the command interpreter and its CLI interface or scripting - and windowing or X systems) and subsequently inbuilt and packaged applications and a host of introduced and installed applications. I know you may not have meant this technically and formally, but metaphorically, implying that UNIX "speaks its own language", but as this video is in essence a beginner's tutorial, such loose usage of language is not only misleading, but erroneous. Thank you for your channel and your uploads, I have subscribed and enjoy your presentation and teaching style. P.S.: Soon after making this post, I was reading `info lsof` (revision 4.95.0) or the "list open files" command which I have never read or used before and it interestingly uses "...UNIX dialect..." in the sense of a varietal (or flavour/spin), which tends to support your assertion of UNIX being a language, but not a computer programming language (or dialect), an operating system language family, consisting of a number of dialects. Note the polysemy of dialect. So, a metaphorical extension of the terminology of Communications and Linguistics, not just into computer programming and scripting languages (which has been established for over 60 years), but into the domain of Computer Science OS philosophy, design and implementation typology. Human natural and technical languages and terminology, never cease in their evolutions and developments. Thanks for learning me!
