@RoyHesseyАй бұрын
If you are coming from the south turn off the Bruxner Highway towards Texas Qld onto Texas Road and follow that for 3.8 kilometres and the free camp is on your left just over the bridge. If your coming from the north at Texas take the Inglewood-Texas Road south for 1.5 kilometres and turn left into the free camp just before the bridge.

We had 4.75 acres land here purchased by my paternal grandfather Late Shri Subramanya Shastry who was a primary school master from a Postmaster.My Late father Shri M S Nagaraj was emotionally attached to this place and use to remember the nostalgic memories he spent with his father who died at a very early age under extremely poverty condition. They use to come on a bicycle and spend some quality timeTenancy act deprived us this piece of hard earned money land. Even in ICU after returning from Coma my dear late father has narrated about this place to the Doctors in his death bed. 😭😭

Once went to a bit of a do there, lots of station people arrived by helicopter. It would appear all the cash stuck to the bar ceiling has been purloined to finance the renovations. Things do appear to have changed in Noccundra.

Wow, I worked at Stonehenge for years at the radar site, but it didn't get featured in this video. It's nice to see curb and guttering since they weren't there when I worked there. Also, the population was just over 100 back then, but it looks like the numbers have dropped.

Visited Stonehenge in 1990 with a 2nd hand Landcruiser and 15ft 2nd poptop caravan with four kids 10 down to almost 4. What’s happened to the pub? You didn’t show it? No doubt the horse that showed up every afternoon when the donkey boiler was lit to stand in the smoke to keep the flies away is long gone. Rouseabout was as old as I am now no doubt. The beer was cold. Got a blowout on the van on that long drive in. I got better tyres in Longreach. Remarkable place that has stuck in my memory.
@RoyHessey4 ай бұрын
Alas, the pub has gone. So many outback have had hard times and did not survive. Stonehenge is so remote as you know. Now is the time for you to revisit and add Windorah to it. Windorah is prospering.
@graemebdh21724 ай бұрын
@@RoyHessey Sad about the pub. Actually checking the map I might be mistaken. Now I think it was the Jundah pub. It was a friendly place. Kids loved it! I have pic of my youngest on that horse out the back. Ironically it was Windorah that was pretty dead and unappealing back then. We camped at the Coopers Creek Crossing but checked out Windorah then moved onto Jundah and Stonehenge. Great outback memories. Tourists were rare then.

Billabong? A billabong can be a curved, almost horseshoe shaped bend that once was a river or creek but has since been cut off from flow as the water has found a new path isolating the body of water, the river or creek now runs nearby. It appears this body of water is a dam. I stand corrected where I don't know this place and haven't seen it myself. Thank you for the scenic Australian scrub presentation.
@RoyHessey4 ай бұрын
Definitely not a dam. And your comment on billabongs is correct. Rather than tapping your keyboard get out there and see the beauty of the outback, take videos and upload them.
