The New Blood ending wasn't the problem the problem was that nothing up to the ending of New Blood made any sense. Dexter kills Matt Caldwell, Kurt finds the screws in the furnace, what evidence does he have to come to the conclusion that Dexter killed Matt because if those screws? What makes him decide that those screws link back to Dexter? The whole season hinges on those screws linking to Dexter and Dexter using Ketamine during his murders in Miami, which also is a plot hole, Dexter never used ketamine in his murders in Miami. Someone please answer this because it's been driving me nuts since I saw it in New Blood when it first came out. Theres nothing tying the screws to Dexter, so how does he know that Dexter killed his son? Its terrible writing for sucj a well written show

I'm not sure why everyone has such a big problem with New Bloods ending. I don't see Logans death as a plothole. Rule #1 was always don't get caught and it makes sense he would get sloppy, he's not in his prime anymore.

I think a good story arc would be Dexter getting incarcerated for his crimes and being locked up with killers who are so much worse than he's used to. I really like the idea of him being powerless and made to face things maybe even for him to be seeing a prison shrink who dissects his history and relationships.

My thinking is that the show can go in a new direction, or at least change the format. Dexter ends up in a special prison like Hannibal Lectnar. Everyyhing nice and clean in his cell. Bullet proof glass. All of it. Then the FBI needs his help. He becomes something of a doctor house for muderers. It'd be a twist on the devil in a cage theme. Perhaps at some point he escapes. Or instead it brought, in chains, and with guards, to see crime scenes. A devil on a leash theme. The point is, he's too valuable to simple execute or dump into a regular prison, yet treated like the dangerous man he is.

My theory is that Brian was checking on Dexter for a while to see if he was affected by the accident. When he had a proof that Dexter was a killer too, he started interacting with him. It was good to see that Brian was messed up from the start!
