Yusef Lateef - Leaves I have seen the leaves waving at me, Sometimes I wave back. Have you seen the leaves waving at you? Wave back and see what happens. Maybe I should wave first, To assure them that I am a friend. Of course these friendships only last through the summer. They end in the fall. Each following summer, Our waving begins again Sometimes I wonder if I shall see my old friends again. Beautiful.

Has anyone found this documentary in English on another channel? Would like to hear what Antonio Carlos Jobim and Cannonball Adderley have to say about Sergio Mendes. ... Thank you!
@sebuteo3 ай бұрын
God, this is fabulous! Seeing and hearing the moustachioed Jobim, at home, talking about Sergio. Priceless! And Cannonball, Mancini, etc? They didn’t skimp on their researches! Love this. And Jobim’s ‘Pra Dizer Adeus’… it’s not just the pop side of Sergio’s beautiful music, but also the more soulful side. But what am I saying!? It’s all deeply soulful. And ‘Bones’ Howe!? I love seeing him interviewed. His work with Tom Waits is amongst my favourite recorded music of all time. I wanted know the whole line-up. And I was working it out, with guesswork, based on other comments here, and the lineup on live albums… but then Sergio does the decent thing, and introduces the group: Sergio - keys & vocs Gracinha Leporace - vocs Bonnie Bowden - vocs Claudio Slon - drums Paulinho da Costa - percussion Laudir Soares de Oliveira - percussion Octavio Bailly - bass Oscar Castro Neves - guitar Bonnie Bowden was a new name to me. There’s a great interview with her at jazzwax.com, including anecdotes about meeting Stevie Wonder, and recording Aguas de Marcos with Jobim! www.jazzwax.com/2012/09/bonnie-bowden-and-stevie-wonder.html It’s great that they interview so many varied folk, such as the artist, Lee, and the ‘Fabulous’ Fittipaldi. And they finish it all off with my wife’s favourite, Tristeza.

It's a kinda weird to hear these sounds and see these images... they seem so far away from current Brazilian reality, as if they have never happened. A row of corrupt populist/leftist administrations have been ruining culture and quality of living in Brazil.
