Yeh for me I am in both camps. I love tech but it needs to be useful and functional. Some of the tech in this car is excellent, for me at least, but maybe not for others, some I don't use but find it by stumbling through stuff at times. What I find has happened in my case at least is that we have reached a price point where I no longer see value and will reassess my vehicle strategy over the next year or two. I was turning them over while in warranty, but will have to look at it.

I have only had my v6 Everest for 3 months, so I am still learning all the electronic's and since I bought it 2nd hand, I had no handover from a dealer. Your videos have been helpful, so thanks for your content. I bought a Platinum (not my preferred option, but it was low km's/good value....) and the 21"/45 profile tyres were the first to go and bought Raptor 17" and fitted 265/65 profile which has transformed the handling and made it far more comfortable to drive. I don't understand the logic of the original wheels/tyres! Just installed a towbar myself (it wasnt' optioned with a tow pack) and I that was far from easy, even though it was genuine Ford bar/kit. My oil is down to 15% and its only done 17,000km (in 2 years) so its in for 2yr service next week. So far, I am loving it and just hope no Ford gremlins greet me down the track.

Thanks. Yes I can't speak for longevity either and don't, will have to roll with those punches and see where we end up, although I do tend to move them on before end of warranty. I do everything bog standard, I personally don't see any value or return out of extra expenditure, though that is very personal. I was never a Ford person, but without dropping a wedge of cash on an F250 or 350 when we got into this towing game, it seemed the best option for us, I state for us. This one is a far superior machine to the PX2, but there was nothing wrong with the PX2 either, this one is just better sitting in front of the load, much more comfortable in the tow game. I would state though build quality is off a bit, small things like the rain is louder on the roof, cost saving stuff, and I understand that as well, just little stuff I notice. My stuff here is of low quality and I don't speak that well, although hopefully getting better, but hopefully there is some snippets of info in there. I have also been very lucky with the dealer I use, they are marvellous in more than just car areas, in how they deal with staff, their outlooks etc, guess you gotta be into that sort of stuff. Thanks for looking.

Selecting , deselecting gesrs is designed for larger wheels after market add on changes final drive ratios. Helps when towing , Hold or when hill decent eg trucks or towing must use lower gears. Less chance of brake fade. Deselected high gears to stop runaway, more use of engines braking. Helpful on sand mud dirt etc by automatic not gear hunting.

Is that a diesel or petrol ute? "For every litre of petrol burned, it puts out 2.3kg of CO2, while LPG produces only 1.5kg for the same amount, and emits up to 63 per cent less nitrogen oxide (NOx) - and even less compared to diesel." I took this off google. Maybe look at an aftermarket lpg setup? After all we are one of the worlds largest lng producers. It's a lot cheaper to fill up. I love my 2006 holden rodeo lpg ute and laugh when people complain about diesel and petrol costs.

I've lived on a sailing catamaran since 2003. I've had lithium since 2010. I installed my own cells and bms system, charge systems etc. The lithium battery industry in Australia is an absolute rip-off. Call big wei in Brisbane or ev power in Perth and you will be amazed at the prices. We are gas free and use everything electric. This includes non caravan items like autopilot anchor winch macerator toilet etc. It is absolutely simple to do lithium yourself and I have done many boats without any problems. We even use induction electric cooktop.

Gee you braved that old video. They are really terrible now but incredibly terrible back then. To be honest we have bugger all requirements for power and no need to change that weight distribution. If we were living in it full time, maybe but that will never happen but thanks for the advice.

@@vagabond_vanner mate if your like me and like to avoid the masses get a boat, any boat big enough to live on. I can't stand the caravan thing because wherever I went there was people. I'm not a hermit, I still have to go to Coles or woollies, I still have missus family mates etc but nothing beats the solitude of nature. It's moron free. We had very little power needs as well when we changed to lithium. We created excess power and that gave us cheap sustainable options like an electric toaster and kettle instead of gas, induction cooking instead of gas etc the list is long. It mainly gave us longer periods of independence. We now have no gas on board which is a damn site more dangerous than lithium, something rarely mentioned. It also costs money but i dont think the system would be paid of with gas savings even in my grandkids lifetime. We have a watermaker, reverse osmosis, so the limiting factor for us is fresh vegetables and my other half has perfected air tight container storage of fresh vegetables for up to a month. I love videos that have content that is thoughtful and looks at all perspectives. I am not interested in "We bought this and its great but we have no idea what else is available or how it works and by the way we would like to thank them for giving it to us for free". Those idiots are destroying a useful resource called KZbin by cluttering it up with mindless promotional garbage. A thorough intelligent analysis of pros and cons of different things is what I look for, not cheap sales pitches for somebody else's benefit. I can get that at hervey normal. Cheers

I would say I am 100% like you, maybe more so, not a van freak either, would love a boat but wife wouldn't join me so have to compromise. WE travel in winter to places like Tasmania, it is marvellous, one morning woke up at minus 6, not a soul in sight, but you have to like cold. Second time we have travelled Tasmania for an extended period and van parks empty, free camps empty. I am a deadset hermit, wife handles the coles and woollies, I rarely go out these days. Started a youtube channel to overcome some fear of public speaking, it is a battle I can tell you but I will push on. Agree on the reviews and sensationalism of many channels, I can't watch them but I guess some are making a living doing it all and they need to stay at the forefront.

it's an odd tax considering newer vehicles are producing less Co2, yet taxing new vehicles will cause older ones to have a longer service life. the other argument for the tax is weight of the vehicle on the road, curious when a tesla model y weights around 150kg less than a hilux, yet the tesla isnt going to be taxed. this would make more sense if the average road was in a decent condition and not riddles with patch overs and potholes. Co2 also makes up 0.04% of the entire atmosphere, and most efficiency comparisons are based against late 1980's injected vehicles. which is always the major argument pro EV. its a skewed metric to make arguments about taxing as a push towards an EV option. lastly rural Australia doesn't suit widespread EV. not to mention the power grid simply cannot support widespread EV use. as a plumber i often travel 400+ km a day to rural areas for jobs, so a diesel dual cab ute is the only real way to do my job. adding a tax to me when i upgrade will only push that cost on down the food-chain. as it will many businesses and sole traders. obviously those using these recreationally will suffer the most. caveat i am not anti EV as-well, i think they have their place, however the govt shouldn't be pushing in this way.

Couldnt agree more on most. At this stage they are a long way from suiting rural and outback oz. It will all depend on how the company cost is apportioned and what price points change buying habits. The weight thing is interesting. Still have to measure footprints of some chev 2500s but i have some interesting results. Thanks for the comment. Will fill in some gaps in part 2.

There is a lot of misinformation out there , let me start with the EV torque thing , the only reason some of these EVs put out a lot of power is two fold , firstly an EV has an absolutely huge power pack to funnel masses of energy to motors , unfortunately electric motors under load use even more energy under load because they can , hence why every single load or towing test against a comparable internal combustion vehicle, the EV has failed miserably. The other reason some EVs do manage to put a lot of power to the ground is because they have multiple motors. And I’ll give you an example of a single motor Tesla , my nothing special Toyota Aurion ( like a Camry) v6 family sedan naturally aspirated stock 6 speed auto V6 runs the quarter in the 14 second bracket , the Tesla single motor runs in the 15’s , the only time electric cars have more power is when they add extra motors to them . And for transparency we have a dual motor long range in the family fleet , of course , even with the bigger battery the range is not even close to my 7 year old Toyota big sedan which also is fitted with a tow bar and a spare wheel/ jack, tools , etc. On the traveling from Melbourne to Sydney in an EV , you can expect 12 plus hours , and December just past we had family emergency in Melbourne, and that time in the Tesla , the car had been charged over night and was fully charged before the trip home and it still took the 12 plus hours. It’s an easy 9 hours without even trying in an ICE powered vehicle. On the cost of vehicles, particularly commercial vehicles governments in Australia have been using them as nice little piggy bank for years, and even more so the big semis , which time after time after time, the pollies love to slug them wherever they can , of course the down side to that is, truckers cannot absorb the cost so they put their prices up , and because of that freight cost for everything you think of goes up , Raw material sourcing, raw material transportation, food, clothes, manufacturing, houses , all goods and all services , the cost of living also goes up , but transportation while being one of the basic ingredients for the gears of the economy to go around are also mated with a few other basics , water , gas , electricity , land rates . You add all these things together that governments of Australia over decades have milked and allowed costs to skyrocket , there is your answer why we currently have people no longer able to afford a roof over their head , people living in tents and cars, business after business going bankrupt, and this is not new , it started in 70’s , but in recent decades it has ramped up. Why are we in Australia looking at house prices for a nothing special 3 bedroom home often on a small plot exceeding half a million dollars, 30 years ago the same house was around a hundred k. Re the running to EVs as some magical solution to a very small problem creates way more problems, if you think the cost of Electric cars and utes is pricey , look at the price of a nothing special bus or heavy duty electric truck , I was in the trucking industry and was an owner driver , and I can tell you without reservation, the path these F wits in Canberra are steering us down into Ev nirvana is a farce and and a joke and will cost the country its reliable cost effective diesel fleet to replace it with cost prohibitive EV powered units that make no mistake will not be fit for purpose. I have a mate with a small bus company being told by his local shire he has to convert to electric buses by date X ….. or else ! The buses cost twice that of a competent diesel bus , and they do not have the range , and when the electric bus company was contacted for its suitably, he was told , point blank it would not do the job of a diesel bus, but welcome to the crazy net zero stupidity at all costs. The amount of cons and compromises are ridiculous, unfortunately this is the way we are being pushed. There is more , but I have talked long enough.

Bit if a two way street on maintenance, if folks launch in and don't know what they are doing, creates a dangerous situation for all, or could create a dangerous situation for all, but 'caravan' maintenance can be broken into some simple sub sets that between a mechanic and gas fitter can be taken care of effectively and simply.
