My grandma used to sing this jingle to me when I was little, now I always think of it when I get in the car

Growing up, my parents owned a clothing store. 75% of the year’s sales were in Nov & Dec (no pressure there…) Every Christmas Eve @ 5pm close, they brought out drinks & shrimp cocktail for the employees, toasting the season that was.❤

This song brings back happy memories of vacations in dad's big 1967 Ford station wagon and everyone wearing their seat belts without question. My 1953 Hudson never came with seat belts but after I bought it, I made sure I installed seat belts. Most old cars pre-1968 (when seat belts where required in all new cars built in the U.S.) aren't nearly as safe as new ones which have padded dashboards, shock absorbing steering columns, air bags all-around, front-end crumple zones, and dual brake fluid reservoirs (my Hudson does have a mechanical brake backup in case the hydraulic brakes fail).

I sang this to my grandkids, just for fun, even though they instantly buckle up when they plop their butts onto the seat. It's a great history lesson! Our family's Big Boat 1962 Pontiac had seat belts, but we never wore them. We were lucky that we didn't need them.

I was born in 93. My parents moved us to Detroit in the late 90’s. My father interned with the redwings and the pistons before he ran rock master for the tigers. I grew up going to OG Tiger stadium before they moved to comerica park. I went to pre-school on one of the top floors of the Fox theater with Mike Illitch’s grandson - Fox Tots. After high school my friends and I would take late night drives over to the abandoned plant and climb to the top of it, then just sit there on the roof listening to music and smoking pot and drinking looking at the cityscape illuminating the night. Crappy time in my life but food memories

The scenes of the old comedians sitting in the restaurant reminiscing about Danny appear so spontaneous and unscripted. No one does multi character dialogue scenes with such authenticity better than Woody. Not even close. The black and white film. Just brilliant direction !

I sing this to my granddaughters every time they get into the car. They make up who should buckle up, such as, “Grandma buckle up.”. I hope they remember it when they are old enough to drive!

Some of my earliest memories is sitting in front of our 13" b&w TV set with built-in rabbit ear antenna and watching the Jackie Gleason Show with my Dad Joe Manzo Sr. Those were the special times in a young boys life when all Dad had to to is laugh at a comic, sing to a crooner or the cream of the crop, route for his favorite sports team and you were automatically hook line and sinker on board! He would wait... no, we would wait for 50 minutes towards the end of each program to see Frank Fontaine as Crazy Gugenheim swap a few jokes with Jackie Gleason aka Joe the Bartender before he blew everyone away with his amazing singing voice.

If more commercials were this entertaining, I wouldn't use the fast-forward button as much. Hard to match the innate comedy in Jesse White's voice and delivery. Stan and Maytag knew that quite well.

As a kid I remember this little song well. Still sing it inside my head from time to time and out loud when no ones around. Kind of like the Andy Griffith whistle !!! And "here he comes to save the day" from my favorite cartoon Mighty Mouse !!! So many memories, so many songs in one's life !!
