I bought one of these during the ice storm here in 1998 , it’s running in the garage as I type this . I’ve never used the electric starter it usually starts first pull even after all these years , great machine .

Could be true. I sold that machine 10 years ago, 2014. Who are you?
@gorak900011 күн бұрын
I got it from Warren in Banks. From what I was told and from the alarm logs, it had been sitting for a while (about a year) with a blown up spindle drive. Someone (unsuccessfully) attempted to repair it, and it had already been replaced with another machine. It's now repaired and running again! See the last couple of videos I posted in the last week.

Heh, I think I own this exact machine now - it has the exact same scratches in the paint in the exact same places!

It apparently once had the leadscrew reverse rod that runs through the apron. You can see plugs fitted to the apron, at at 00:13, the empty mounting boss at the far end of the lathe. At 01:32 it looks like the stub end of the leadscrew reverse rod is apparent, exiting the gearbox just to the left of the carriage micrometer stop. Does anyone know if, in fact, the lathe did have the leadscrew reverse rod at one time (a VERY handy feature), and if so, why was it removed?

the problem for acquiring machinery in western wa is klownkar real estate pricing, such as a small lot for $749K in a shabby town that would be $3k in another state, and commercial units regardless of condition are 10x another state...so beyond one's own garage there isn't much of a chance to 1. start a biz, or 2. save/repair/build collection 3. hobby work 4. etc.

Back in the day I worked in an air cooled VW engine shop. We used it to align bore the VW engine cases. The problem was that the case bolts would loosen and the Maine bearing bores would become oblong. You had to align bore the cases to make the bores round again to properly fit new main bearings. Had a machinist running one of these six days a week eight hours a day.

Will it bend thicker wall size pipe/ tubing?
@JG-kv4oi7 ай бұрын
I've bent 2" OD 1/4" wall DOM with my Ben Pearson MC59HS. These machines max out at 3" od 13 guage so it's all relative. You could bend 1 1/2" solid cold rolled rod, likely 1/4 wall 2 1/4" od tube and .090 2 1/2" tube.

Would you know and be able to advise me on what a "Detroit Diesel, Spectrum 60", with the transfer switch (whole working enclosure) is worth to sell ? This unit was for backup/emergency power for two, large (500' long) chicken houses that were built in the early 80's. Not sure if this unit was installed at that time or later (can find out) but know it's fairly old. We started and ran it today. It's a 4 cylinder and runs good, however voltage, amps and hertz meters are not moving/showing at all and I think they should be, even with no load. Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

the newer versions of this generator use 20A CGFI plugs. Prone to sudden tripping. I had to change mine because reliability takes precedence over perceived safety.
