Got to agree with Charlie. Very poor seamanship by all. 🙄

Not really...they could have easily done better, but in all fairness calling it very poor seamanship seems overdone. Especially as the little white boat was well skippered, only lacking power to complete the maneuvre first time around. the yellow ship surely had no idea what to do and, seeing as it says ambulance on the side, should have been a lot better in this scenario, but then again by the time they arrived, things were already looking like a working solution was being executed, so was just out of place and therefore seemed useless. in my opinion, the only really very poor act of seamanship is by the captain of the ferry who nearly beached himself in his first attempt

Manchmal kann man Pech haben wie der Kapitän von der Fähre an den Felsen .... aber Oberpfeifen zu wie die Schwesterfäre oder den tanzenden Gelben .... Gott , hüte uns vor den Dummen !

Why does every one try to tow from the bow. No power no steerage..

Sea conditions indicate little more than 25 kts. of wind - both "towing" vessels towing from the bow greatly reducing their capability to manoeuvre due to prop drag and windage whilst going astern - why not take tow line to stern of towing vessel - make life easier. Ferry Skipper trying to tow shows little sign of seamanship in my opinion and I question whether he/she should operating a commercial/passenger vessel. The skipper of the yellow boat, would never work for me...……………………....

Wrong. Totally wrong. Who want to get the propeller so close to that rocky bottom in these conditions? Tidal current and 25-30 Knots of wind makes it difficult to maneuver. The yellow boat is an ambulance boat that had one mission. And that was to take care of any injured persons.

Water jets do not have much thrust in reverse, the skippers ought to know that. They should definitely tow from the stern!

This was filmed in Norway. The weather here is really tough and unpredictable. This could have happend to any good Captain. What the Yellow boat did was to create a wash so that the Ferry did not go broadside to the land again so that the second Ferry could attach lines to the ferries stern...Well executed ….

A very poorly conducted rescue by the other ferry.. Seems as they acted out of stress and did certainly not consider the main rule in any rescue, don't put yourself or your ship at risk. That was nearly two beached ferries... However, the little white boat did quite alright. What the ambulance boat did there I got no clue about. Think it all would have been better if the other ferry had kept away and so could the yellow one done. Anyways glad it was sorted. Another thing I thought about was, I hope they did a damage assessment before towing her off the cliffs. If not.. They were just lucky ^^

They most certainly did a damage assessment before going ahead with pulling it off the rocks. And the fact that action was done so quickly, even if not executed perfectly is probably why there hasn't been another Sleipner like incident.

Seems like some really stupid captains in all but the little private boat! The ferry that eventually got it off, in it's first try, swung around and almost beached itself! The yellow boat was doing 360s. WTF?
