Another question: if Metashape is aligning all photos, even without markers, is it still better to use markers because the alignment is more accurate with markers?
@danielkotzer6364 ай бұрын
If I want to scan an object in 4 chunks, top, bottom, left, right, do I need 4 marker palets? you can't use the same marker palet for 2 different chunk?
@alexelvisbadillo4 ай бұрын
You can reuse the palettes for different chunks, but make sure that when it comes to aligning chunks you delete the markers from the chunks that have repeated markers. Particularly if you use the marker based alignment method.
@danielkotzer6364 ай бұрын
@@alexelvisbadillo markers helps Metashape align the photos properly, so once the photos in a chunk are aligned, i should delete the markers before merging the chunks together? The marks are not needed for merging and aligning the chunks together?
@alexelvisbadillo4 ай бұрын
Correct. If you are doing a marker based alignment then the duplicate markers in two different chunks will mess up the alignment. Picking unique points on multiple chunks that are named the same will then be used for alignment of chunks. If it's a point based alignment, be sure to adjust the region to only the model and maybe do some masking.

Thank you, Alex, for another incredible tutorial. It was truly helpful because I spent the last two days trying to process an object capture with macro photos in two chunks and several loops, needing to use the mask. I wasn't succeeding with Reality Capture (a software I really like but in this case Metashape rocked for me). This tutorial saved me from having nothing processed to present at work! Now I have much more confidence in my workflow thanks to your excellent teaching skills. Gracias!

Different Value altitude between GCP and image what is mean that?
@alexelvisbadillo8 ай бұрын
The GCP altitude measurements should be more accurate than the altitude measurement from the geotagged photos. That's why we use the GCPs as reference data.

I think that if you import shape you should be able to import one of those file types and use that to clip your orthomosaic.

Nice video! Simple questions: 1. Both turntable prints can be the same or you need to swap for bottom / top photos? 2. What camera are you using? I have two canons with several lenses, but Im worried with blur for fov. (I know, need better lighting to close lens). 3. Can I crop png for turntable and print in normal A4 printer?

This method is flawed. You can't go from local coordinate system (made up) to another like the video shows. Just because you told the tool it has that coordinate system, doesn't make it true. You need to GPS some points to create ground control points (GCPs) to use in Metashape.
@alexelvisbadillo11 ай бұрын
You are correct! I agree. This is flawed 😊 However, if I want to move the 3D model into a web scene using the ArcGIS scene viewer, I need to assign it that particular coordinate system. The web scene currently only supports that coordinate system (unless they've updated it). In our case, we are working in a local system, and we are okay having our models float at zero island. For us, this is acceptable for the kinds of use that we are planning. We do have a set of models that was referenced using RTK GPS. However, when moving the models referenced from Agisoft as .obj files to ArcGIS, there are some issues. The models do not articulate in space where they need to go. I think it has something to do with the way the software packages the reference information with the model. But when I create a tiled model and export as a scene layer package, it works just fine in terms of lining up with an ArcGIS Pro and then also online. So, if you plan to keep your models in real world space, I would recommend running a tile model and exporting as a scene layer package before moving into ArcGIS Pro and online. If you plan to use.obj files, there is a bit of a hiccup when it comes to moving those same models into the esri environment. If you find a solution, please let me know.

Is the mesh important for the process or is it just for us to see better what we're doing? What are projections and what should we do if we don't have many, or any on some GCP's? I just located 4 GCP's in about 10 photos each but I only have 9. 6. 4 and 0 projections

What version of ArcGIS Pro do you have? 2.9 is the version that seems to work best for this.

@@alexelvisbadillo I use 3.0. And it adds meshes without textures. My solution is to upload tile models (slpk) as scenes to ArcGIS Pro, but I find it inappropriate because the building of tile models is and additional operation, which takes a lot of time.

In Agisoft 2.0.2, the feature you need to draw a boundary around the desired portion of an orthomosaic is "Draw Patch." If you use "Draw Polyline", it won't automatically snap the final two vertices together to form a single shape.
