Great video! Epicor user guide was pretty confusing by itself. I just started at a mfg company that had random hardware configured with backflush over 10 years ago and have no inventory control. I want to pull my hair out most days 😭

At the 22:46 mark in the video you stated that DSS-1010 was a Non-Stock Item. I believe you meant that it was a Stock Item.

Do you have any videos that specifically speak to and explain the "On-the-fly" parts and how to use this functionality in epicor?
@MitchB-r2o Жыл бұрын
42 mins in locking of the jobs, is this something that then the part can be re-stocked at the component level or the finished goods level without a warehouse set up or do you need to then change the parts classificiation within the master data to show that its now not gone from started to finsihed items for make to order, its now gone from components to make to stock - in turn 2 classifications against 1 part number?

How we can use backflush for part with lot controlled? how we can setup? while Epicor recommend: "Serial number controlled, lot controlled, or dimensionally controlled inventory CANNOT be backflushed."
@estesgroupestescloud Жыл бұрын
That's a tough one. Epicor backflushing will not work for lot-controlled parts - no internal logic to determine from which lot to pick. I've seen two options here int he past: implement custom lot tracking functionality, or implement customer auto-issuing functionality - something like a BPM that auto-issues material when the related operation completes. You'd need to specify the logic for how it would pick from multiple lots when issuing materials.

How could I connect SSMS to Eipcor Saas or how could I update tables in Epicor Saas? thx!
@estesgroupestescloud Жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, not sure what the story is there. All our work is in the context of on-prem/private cloud environments. Not honeslty sure what is all permissible within a SaaS ecosystem. Probably best to talk with your provider to see what's available.

Is defining a part as stocked but with no inventory level the same as defining it as non-stock with pull as assembly unchecked (make direct checked)?
@rmcmillegm2 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, There are some different issues here. We’ll assume that there is a part “Parent” and another manufactured part “Child” in the bill of materials. Marking Child as “pull as assembly” on the method in Engineering Workbench will direct Epicor to create a subassembly on the job making the part Parent instead of expecting that part Child will be issued from inventory stock. In this case, you would manufacture Child as a subset of Parent on a single job instead of having a job created for each Parent and Child. Marking a part as “non-stock” means that you aren’t going to manufacture the part and put it in stock as a normal practice. When you put the part on an order line, you’ll see the “make direct” checkbox on the order release filled. Epicor will expect that you are making the part specifically for this order release and you will ship directly from the job instead of putting in into stock. You can override this behavior on the order release by unchecking the make direct checkbox. Defining a part as non-stock doesn’t mean you can never manufacture the part to stock, but that’s the normal way you’re going to treat it. Does this help? Thanks, Joe Trent

@@rmcmillegm Thanks for the reply! I don't think my original question was actually what I needed to know but you did answer a question I was having about "pull as assembly" and the child showing as a subset of the parent on a single job. Another question: we have a part of a system that is created on the fly based on a configured height (machining operation). It seems like this would be a make direct non-stock part but you said that it's difficult (requires a lot of code) to do with an OTF part. Is there any way around it?
@rmcmillegm2 жыл бұрын
@@mellowhead1 There’s a lot of info we don't know so it's hard to answer this new question. If it’s on-the-fly it can’t be a non-stock part. Hope this helps!

I have used ERP software for over 30 years. I however, I have only been using Epicor for the past month. These Estes videos have been a fantastic way for me to learn much faster than I would have normally. While Brad Feakes seems less than thrilled about being in Wisconsin, I personally love being here. Granted, I am down near Madison. We had an issue arise today. We had entered forecasted demand, which MRP drives down through manufactured assemblies. However, we are not seeing the demand in either Time Phased Inquiry, or Suggested Purchase Orders. No settings like Planning Time Fences, Days of Supply, etc. are set. However, I have seen online that Suggested PO's might only occur if there is a firm Job, not a planned order. If correct, that could be our issue. Curious if anyone subscribed to this channel might have an answer.

Hey Todd, welcome to the Epicor world. I only dump on Wisconsin when it’s cold, and it’s been cold a lot lately 😊. I conferred with my team. If the Generate Suggestions process didn’t run yet, it would make sense that it didn’t show up. But it is indeed strange that the forecast is not showing up in Time Phase. Time Phase looks at the PartDtl table, among others, to compile its information. There should be a trigger that writes to the PartDtl table when the forecast was entered, so there could be a problem here. That might be affected by how the forecast was entered. If you have any questions, you can ping me directly at [email protected].

how to edit a open sales order with Epicor Espress 10
