Who let ask of the bleeding heart idiots in here? Jesus Christ..... It's not like these things arent being eaten by the army of seagulls and dolphins following these boats around, or used for something else like bait. And I'm sorry. Did i miss the bag full of endangered species somewhere? I'm sure if those fish were caught in that volume they are of least concern. Billions of the f'ing things out there and your all crying over a couple buckets full.....

That's beautiful. I'm rebuilding a 16 foot Starcraft for the Biloxi waters for trolling netting, etc. . Keep the fish for crab traps!

Rename this a fun day of killing small fish for no reason!!

Fish survive for 15+ minutes out of water. Most of the bycatch will survive or be used for bait/food. The small amount of dead fish will be put back into the ocean and other animals will thrive off of it.

You killed about 60 pounds of by-catch. Not very successful in my opinion.

@@RiskyFisk Many of the turtles won't survive. Porpoises, etc. All by catch that gets killed. much of it not on the video.

@@jeffj2495 Actually, almost every turtle if not all survive. They are very hardy and are able to withstand things that no one could think they could withstand such as shark attacks and even losing flippers/parts of their shell. Dolphins/porpoises and other stuff like that would survive a good amount of the time, although its pretty rare to catch in a shrimp net since they are smaller. For a bottom dragging net that would be a huge problem, but shrimp nets are not as big of a problem ruining the ocean as many people think. The bottom dragging nets give all net boats a bad name.

@@RiskyFisk I'm a relative to one of the former lab leaders for the Kemps Ridley sea turtle project in Galveston. So we get to hear a lot about turtles, and the facts that aren't readily disclosed to the public. Even the Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDS) are not that great, and they are only required in US waters. Turtles can't withstand drowning, and that is what gets them.

What you dont realize is that they keep most of the fish to use for other things. The rest they dont want will be released back alive. Fish survive 15+ minutes out of water

wow, 1 lb of shrimp per 50 lbs of dead fish... wonder why fish populations are declining so quickly.

I smell liberal PETA members on the comment thread. Where were you shrimping in gulf shores? That looks like Mobile bay. I'm local. You liberals shut the hell up and go hug a tree,
