I've seen many of these casseroles recently on many food bloggers' Facebook pages. The closest casserole I will come to scalloped potatoes is what I call My Mom's Party Potatoes, which is her take on Funeral Potatoes, but my Mom used crunched up potato chips for the topping, instead of crunched up cornflakes & butter

Poor people like my gamily didn't have olive oil and lemon lemon juice Your dandelion salad was made with hotbacon grease and vinegar wilting the leaves. Bitter but good in the spring after a long winter without fresh veggies

I remember everything so far that are on this video. I miss having a land line. I remember carrying a metal lunch box but by the time I got into highschool I carried a plastic lunch box and so times I carried a paper lunch bag. I miss the 70's.

alot of these are still around and I grew up in the 80 s and 90s with great depression poverty and im a home cook and cook alot of this stuff and my Easter European grandma would know the cabbage and noodles..and crap on a shingle is great we eat it alot..i just substitute the dried beef for buddig lunch meat..and the trick to the mock apple pie is adding apple cider vinegar to the pie for the apple flavor..but i cook all the time id rather waste the money spent on takeout for a few days of food to make something cheaper and tastier...and um vinegar pie isn't bad and its from the Victorian era not the 30s ..alot of these recipes are older than the 30s

I find your videos interesting, but your constant mispronounciations of words, i.e. thyme is TIME, which is such a distraction and annoyance. Perhaps you could read your scripts to someone who is as thrilled about food as you to verify. Quiche is Keesh! 😮

I think my mom learned a few of these recipes from my grandmother because she cooked those recipes when I was a child. Now I make carnivore diet meat egg drop soup with homemade bone broth. I didn't know it was a depression era recipe. People can be so creative. For some reason, I think the vinegar pie sounds tasty.

huh ?? #20 is a Rich mans dish and originally from the 1880s not 1980s...unless you were a rich yuppy...and alot of these dishes are older than 1980s and again unless you were rich or upper middle class you couldn't afford it especially with the 1988 stock market crash were still paying for,...but too many mispronounciations and who doesn't wish shell fish like lobsters and oysters were still cheap enough to enjoy especially when it used to be for poor people...and chicken tetrazini can be made cheaper with cooking wine...but alot of this crap is older than 1980 and too expensive to make so I know id never eat em lol

That meatloaf is not in aspic. Aspic is jelly made from boiling fish bones. You could only glaze something with aspic if it is cold. Hams used to get glazed with aspic. That meatloaf is baked in what appears to be BBQ sauce.

There are soooo many mispronunciations and grammatical errors in this video it is ridiculous! If the audio is AI, you might want to use a different one, if it is an actual person, you may want to do a preread so that everyone is aware of pronuncuiation, flow and continuity. You should review the video and correct these things before posting...sorry, not what I like to watch. Won't watch future posts.
