Hello Martin! I enjoy watching your videos. I have a question, which is more convenient to use with DF: a leather semi-case or an aluminum L-shaped pad with a handle? The latter weighs almost 200 grams, which negates the lightness of the camera itself. Please share your usage experience! Thanks, Mika
@martinandreasson5504
@martinandreasson5504 7 күн бұрын
Thank you Mika :) And hi! Regarding your question, i have used 3 different "setups" and my first was the Gariz leather half case that also contains a grip. the two i have now is the Df plate with grip, but i also ordered a new leather halfcase with a bronze bottom plate as protection ( similar to the Gariz case i had for my first df). Out of all three id say the little plat+plus grip from Nikon i have now is the most "smooth" of the choices. It doesnt really add much extra weight from what i feel and also not much extra "girth". I really like both the Gariz half case and the new one i have bought, but i find myself using that little L grip more often as it does not add much to the Df in terms of the dimensions. I mean using it without is the best i suppose hehe. But the little Nikon L grip i feel is the best compromise as it doesnt change the Df too much but protects the bottom and adds a little extra grip that actually does help when your holding it for longer shoots. Hope that helps a bit :) /regards Martin.

I am so glad to have kept my (black) Df. It is a magical camera despite its antiquated AF. Nice to see yours put to very good use. My favourite Df combo is with the 58mm f/1.4G (followed by the AI-S classics).
@martinandreasson5504
@martinandreasson5504 8 күн бұрын
Thank you :) Yeh the af is not the best, probably the only thing that can get a bit annoying at times, and also not having more than the green dot as confirmation for being in focus ;) Otherwise its indeed a classic! The 58 G is one of my very favorite lenses on the Df as well.
@brusselssprout1
@brusselssprout1 8 күн бұрын
@@martinandreasson5504 i've grown to trust the green dot, and even when there is not enough light for the dot to appear, the way the arrows around the dot do their thing is often reliable enough to confirm focus (2 triangles flashing at the same time). I tried installing a 3d party ground glass with split screen on my first Df, but that was messy and, at the end, much less reliable.

I was sad when you said you sold your DF, I am glad to see that you have re-united! I also own a ZF, but I keep it with its older brother the DF. Thank you so much :) And yes very happy to be reunited again! I agree with keeping the Zf around as well, its good for a lot of things with the fast Af and insane ISO capablities and being able to adapt other branded vintage lenses etc. But the sensor and feel of the Df trumps everything else for me :) Cheers! /regards Martin.

Thank you! I will shoot more with it now for sure :) Just wish the light here would be slightly better, but its moving towards longer days so thats good. I still have it actually. During xmas when i was inside with my family i used it because it has such amazing ISO capabilities. The Df would have worked fine as well, but the Zf with the f1m2 lens i had with me worked very well in that situation. But for me in reality the only thing that the Zf trumps the Df on, would be the Af and the ISO capabilities. The sensor is still or will always be the better one. I dont see another one like that in the future either to be honest. All new cameras look cleaner and more "perfect" ;)

Hello and happy new year. I very much lament the time that I sold my QP to move up to the Q2. I agree with everything you said about the QP sensor. I am lucky enough to have used all of the modern Leica cameras. I currently own an M11 black paint and a Q343 and I have recently sold a Q3 28 and an SL3 with several zooms. Even though I think the lens on the Q3 43 is the best I have ever had. I do believe as you already have said That the colours from the sensor of the QP are the best. I enjoyed your video and look forward to more. My site with all the above mentioned cameras plus more can be found by searching walkacrossitall All one word. Cheers Mark

Hej Martin.

Mvh Martin.

Hello, it's a pleasure to meet you!!!! I wanted to ask something: I am behind the Zeiss 25mm f/2.8 Distagon for this camera and my mirrorless!!! do you have any references? I know the Zeiss quality backs up it but I would like to read your opinion... is it a good lens or do you recomend another one with the same range of focal length? And also for my ikon camera i once used the 21 Distagon Zeiss lens which was a magnificent landscape lens. So i could only speak about those. But the 28mm f2,8 was a great lens. So i would recommend that for sure. Its a bit bigger than the other two i used, but in comparison to modern lenses its not that big. Good luck and tank you for watching :) /Regards Martin.

I used to own one. I'd caution the little lever that selects CL and CH to not be caught on threads or debris. That's the only complaint I have with the design. It can be slightly bent upwards causing CH to become inoperable without pressing down on it while shooting. I say all that to say, do yourself a favor and purchase a full leather case. I wouldn't even mess with a cheap nylon case if I purchase another one. There's also a vertical battery grip out there if you need it.

Beautiful video, thank you for it. Coming from Pentax cameras, I was wondering if the Nikon Df has an Auto-ISO mode? If so, would you be able to set it from the body controls or do you need to access the menu? I have been shooting with Nikon since 1983 and switched to Pentax in 2012 when I went digital. I still have my Nikon lenses and my old Nikkormat FT3 body. I'm thinking of going back to Nikon and this would be an interesting camera.

Thank you so much :) Love Pentax cameras and have shot with several film Pentax over the years. Also always been interested in how their digital bodies are like. Had a lady friend always shooting Pentax at photography school swearing by them. I Used to have my Auto ISO button fixed to a Fn button on the front if i recall correctly. S pretty sure that is possible :) That is awesome, if you still have the old Nikkors or any other F mount lenses the Df would seem like a very nice transition into the system :D /regards Martin.
