fun fact! the reason jard changed the “kinky” line is actually bc when he spots someone filming in the audience, it’s a way for him to alert security. so this person has been caught

The casting of Jared and Connor in the show is 1 million times better than in the movie. Jared and Connor in the movie are so dull and doesn't give justice to the characters unlike in the stage.

I saw both the show on Broadway with the original cast and the film, and I enjoyed both. The film actually fixed a lot of pacing issues the show had.

Yeah, they were afraid that Jared's homophobic jokes wouldn't fly with audiences, so they cut a few of them and made his character gay. It sounds fine on paper, but in the play the jokes aren't meant to be taken at face value. The characters KNOW the jokes are homophobic, which is one of the reasons Evan takes such care to make his and Connor's relationship seem platonic.
