I'd end up with a bald cairn ^ although that would match his owner =)

Wow, it's fascinating how much dedication goes into a perfect show groom on a dog! Of course I knew on some level that it was a lot of work, but I suppose I never thought about just how much careful thought and precision goes into it. Even for a Schnauzer, it's so much more than just "short over the top, long on the undercarriage". What a gorgeous dog--and a very patient one, at that!

What about his beard??? Why did you leave it in rubberbands?Rubbermaid? I hope that that is not suppose to be cute. The beard are what is so distinguishing on Miniature Schnauzers!
@DePetsSalon Жыл бұрын
Hi Ann, thank you for commenting😊. I didn’t remove the wrapping bands as she is a grooming client, she will salivate and wet her beard if it’s not banded. Yes the beard plays a very important role in a schnauzer’s expression that is why we have to band to prevent breakage and keep in perfect condition. It’s not meant to look cute😅 By the way the bands are not normal rubber bands, we uses Lainee wrapping bands. I hope I’ve answered your questions~

Schnauzer must be trimmed!!! Also, his eyebrows must be longer and cover his eyes for health reasons. This is a schnauzer, not a sheep or a toy! Please, don't take this dog if you don't want to respect all they need. Take some plush toy.
@DePetsSalon Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for your comment☺️ I think you’re referring to the hand stripping for schnauzers. We respect owners request and have different category of grooming. For pets, show grooming and pet schnauzers in show clip. You can refer to our video for miniature schnauzer hand stripping show grooming😊

How do you decide wich length will the coat be? I have a stripping knife but it only takes out dead hairs and the rest of the coat keeps growing until i have to clip it
@DePetsSalon Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for your question! We decide the length base on the breed standard and adjust to individual structure of dog🤗

Lovely groom! Do you bath then handstrip or other way around ? I was always taught to do the stripping first then bath on a separate day to avoid any skin irritation from shampoo x
@DePetsSalon2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you! Usually depending on the coat condition I will roll the coat > roughly strip to remove the excess coat > bath + dry > final touches. Unless I am hand plucking then I wouldn't recommend to wet the skin as it may lead to a infection. So far I have not encountered a skin irrtation from shampoo, but I feel using #1 system crip coat helps too!😊

Looks great! How do you tie the beard in a band to make it look so cute? Mine always looks clumsy 😅
@DePetsSalon2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I usually use the comb to part the beard in the middle into two sections, comb thru and secure the entire top section with smooth elastic then loosen the grip a little so it’s comfortable for them. Usually we start tying since puppy so they are used to the tying otherwise it will be very difficult😄 We tie the fur to keep the beard clean not really for aesthetic purposes😊 I hope it helps!

Hello, please share your tips on how to make them calm while grooming.
@DePetsSalon2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I will recommend to approach the pet with a calm patient and firm heart, reassurance, start grooming young, desensitise if they're frighten to a certain objects for example most pets that are new to grooming are quite sensitive with a clipper😊
@jayharvey92392 жыл бұрын
It would be helpful if you told us what tools you are using Clipper, clipper comb(s) number on each part of the body, scissors, thinning shears etc. Other than that I enjoyed the happy music. The end result is excellent. I, for one, would like to get information helpful to achieve similar results.

Frankly, I think the true Schnauzer look has a longer, shaped beard and the ears are finely trimmed and look very neat. The eyebrows looked half OK BUT seeing all the beard go was sad. This is the Pacific Rim style of cutting, not common in USA, ( I hope )
@DePetsSalon2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes this is the pet style that's easier for owners to maintain & more cute looking for pet owners. 😊 The breed standard cut is quite different, more like this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYvJnnZ6jdCGp5I

Do maltipoo still keep their soft fur when fully grown?
@DePetsSalon2 жыл бұрын
Most of those we've seen, fur texture remains somewhat soft. Also depends on how much of the mix of maltese the dog took on. As maltese have dropping coat, the more maltese the dog took on, the more "soft" the coat will feel. This texture makes it harder to groom neatly. :)

I have 2 Mini's myself that are spoiled rotten. I have my own tols that I used to use on my "girls" but now I can't stand to too long since I suffered a stroke at home. A few months later now I can stand for longer period of time. The stroke affected my balance & nerves that caused my to have no feeling in the left hand and fingers . I couldn't hold my grooming tools to groom my dogs. I have kept my tools until I'm recovered enough to walk my dogs together again. I love grooming m Mini's because it's therapy for me. I have always loved all sizes of Schnauzers. The Standard & the Giant Schnauzers are much bigger to handle.
@DePetsSalon2 жыл бұрын
Wow 2! 🤩🤩🤩 we have just 1 male schnauzer whom has completed his championship and enjoying happy retirement. Still keeping him in the show trim though. Sorry to hear about your stroke! Praying for your speedy recovery! I'm sure your girls are so very looking forward to that walk with you!❤️❤️ Would love to work on a giant schnauzer one day, but we live in a small country and they're quite rare to come across.
